I think this is explainable through the fact that if the entire upper cabal and justice system is on your side and being a large revenue source, there's no threat of sanctions.

It is the opposite of moral ground, it's opportunism and risk vs reward evaluation.

What surprised me about reading this is that I'm attributing any morality or moral motivation to trillion dollar payment processing companies.

Just banning all of it when it MIGHT hurt their bottom line makes a lot more sense.
