Awesome! Thank you. I look forward to listening to (and adding) these!

Should have called it the AAAChess Pit so it would move up! That said, I should probably create an immortals/eternal vigil tier for the pods I miss most...

If you listened to a lot of alternative rock and grunge in the mid-90s, this song may unlock some memories for you as it has, apparently, *many* others as it did for me. I'm sure I hadn't heard this song in 25+ years, but it opened a floodgate. → www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UmM... #music #memory

I finally found time to finish my #Chess Podcast Tier List enough to post. If nothing else, it links to an abundance of active podcasts (and the archives of many more). Which am I missing? #chesspunks #podcasts → chrisl64.me/chess-podcas...

In honor of Vlastimil Horst's passing, a little #chess #tactics puzzle for you. Can you find the pretty mating line Horst did in this 1994 game against Emmanuel Preissmann? || #chesspunks

I wish all mothers and those who love them a happy celebration of Mother's Day today...but remember this is also a really challenging day for some of us. To those, please know you aren't alone!

Even though my partner's occupied playing in the [infernal card game] tournament, the hot action is still in our room 😜! White to move... (see diagram in reply for an actually legible view LOL). #chess #tactics #chesspunks

2700chess.com listing for Vladimir Fedoseev as of May 1, 2025

2700chess.com listing for Vladimir Fedoseev as of May 1, 2025

For his performance in the GCT Superbet Blitz tournament, Vladimir Fedoseev gained nearly 71!! points and rose *23 places* to World #13 in blitz #chess rating. That is wild.

I hate to agree with World Chess about anything, but it does seem logical that there would/should be a standard reciprocal agreement regarding enforcement of (at least some kinds of) bans across #chess federations. Is this the case in federations for other sports/games? #fide #uscf

“1930 Soviet engineers play chess and smoke pipes and cigarettes.”

They’re using an Averbakh II/Soviet Upright! Such an interesting set, with those slender stems, flame finials on the kings, and unassuming/benign-looking knights.

Last image: an Averbakh II from Ribnar Mazumdar’s collection.

I have the Go and the Air. I keep resisting the Evo, but not sure how long my resistance will hold up :)

This has been my approach since forever, with the more recent addition of sparring against the database using Lichess Tools or openingtrainer.com. I literally didn't know that wasn't the usual approach to actually learning an opening as opposed to skimming it.

Enjoyed writing about GM Johan Hellsten and his iconic Mastering Chess Strategy book.

Yeah. I don't think Nxf2 is losing (I need to play it out against the engine), but Be3+ is unstoppable.

All the whingeing about #chess puzzles in #Destiny2 has me more interested in a video game than I have been in probably 20 years 😂

It's the blind leading to the blind when I try to play without seeing the board :) I'm pretty sure Nxf2 to start won't hold up? bBut here's where I know we are after Nxf2 Kxf2 Be3+ Kg2. I'm not sure what your next move is meant to be?

Wait. No, that won't work I don't think. Nxf2 Kxf2 Qxf6+ Kg2

Yep. That'll get you there...but there's a much quicker way :)

Chuky rises to #3 on the #FIDE Circuit #chess leaderboard. The chances he makes the Candidates are infinitesimal, but wouldn't it be a wild delight if he did? → wcc.fide.com/fide_circuit...

What do you do after Nxf2 Be3+ Kg2? Because I've got Rh1 in my pocket and that doesn't look good for Black...

11 months ago 0 0 1 0

Yeah, it's the "too much" part that gets us. Caring is good, but ultimately, if it's not a positive driver or is a net-negative, I'm not sure why one would keep playing. The horizon line/distance for determining that is different for each person, but it's only a game...and there are so many more!

Play for the love of the game...playing, solving problems, feeling growth (no matter how small the increment), diving into the delicious flow of deep thinking. All the rest is artificial, superficial, and sometimes sadly toxic. It's a game...enjoy it! If you love it, it is, by definition, your thing

IM Emmanuel Bricard has just made what looks like a sensible move, avoiding losing his rook to the exchange and buttressing his queen, GM Josef Pinter has other ideas. What would you do? || #chess #tactics #chesspunks
