Public goods in public hands, always …
Feels a bit like a pot scourer? I have a Irish terrier friend called Niamh who is as sweet a dog as you’ll find, but she’s a bit scratchy :D
I have a simple view that when used in non-pejorative terms, “woke” = “kind” …
(or just get used to splitting your network across different apps 🤣 )
We'll have to start learning not to willingly lock ourselves into walled gardens … at least on Mastodon you can take follows/followers with you if you change servers. Bluesky *does* partially support RSS so can sort-of interoperate with other socmed …
A view of Obi Obi Creek, Maleny, Queensland at sunset, with trees and sky reflected in the still water that may or may not have concealed a platypus.
@rubinacarlson.bsky.social Reminds me of Twitter circa 2008, but I don’t currently see what will prevent it from becoming Twitter circa 2024.
That said, people find it easier to get into than Mastodon (my preference) so again the network effects will be important.
@rubinacarlson.bsky.social Yes, there are quite a few here already. I’m personally a little concerned that jumping from X to here might be a frying pan and fire situation – BSky is still a centralised billionaire’s playground.

I'm looking forward to trying it out … apparently the stations are nice (for the time being at least) …
Don’t spend it all in one place :D
Ho …
Likewise - ideologically I prefer Masto, and quite a few of my network *are* there, so I’m having a good experience … but there are also a few Muskville refugees that came here rather then Fediverse (and I notice a bunch like us who are hedging their bets 😆)
Been waiting so long for the invite, I’d forgotten I’d asked for it … not sure how this will work out; not convinced we should be the livestock of another billionaire, but I’ll give it a chance.
