I journeyed over to Leicester (£13 return 😬) to help support Bora Aasiya in her campaign for the Stoneygate by-election, in the end they had more volunteers than they knew what to do with... but I did get to meet the wonderful @mothinali.bsky.social

Today I was out again supporting Jake Bolton's campaign to get elected in the Logan by-election.

All addressed postal letters were delivered by pedal power by me, and EV by Lynne!

I am playing some of the golden oldies from the 60's while preparing lunch, every request fine apart from this one... is it an Alexa joke I wonder?

In my opinion there are two factors at play here.

Automation, when pundits worry that productivity has stalled they are asking for more of this.

Rationalisation, these CEOs only answer to shareholders and will strip back organisations to almost failure point if it realises short term profit.

MPs urge Reeves to raise gambling taxes despite ‘scaremongering’ from firms Treasury select committee calls for higher duties on most addictive forms, such as high-street slots and online games

MPs urge Reeves to raise gambling taxes despite ‘scaremongering’ from firms.

Quite right.

Bet365 CEO collected £323m in pay and dividends last year. Company paid 12.7% corporation tax on £1.4bn profit.

Almost all betting companies have offshore tax haven operations, solely to dodge UK taxes.

What a photograph.

“Nearly two dozen arrested as faith leaders protested outside a federal immigration facility near Chicago…”

Arrested large amounts of peaceful clergy face first on pavement is a pretty good sign you’re not the good guys in the story. www.reuters.com/legal/govern...

I hope people are aware that investigative journalism is best done by those who read books, and research subjects that are not algorithmically compliant, are not discussed in the MSM, are not popular or monetized, and don’t rely on parroting current events in some echo chamber.

This morning, I joined the Welland Community forum volunteers on their tidy up of the Western Avenue precinct.

I couldn't help for long as someone called a by-election!

Pride in your place helps build community. If you have any suggestions let us know #Harborough.

Housing secretary tells Labour MPs to vote down planning bill amendment Amendment restricts protection for animals to allow faster house building

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇

I gave up after a few months after BREXITcast finished, every one was so unapologetically on the right.

That said, I loved THIS WEEK and that was more biased than this 😁

The WEF convenes governments and corporations, potentially creating policy environments favourable to asset manager interests. Those policy environments include freeports, special economic zones, and AI Growth Zones.
Zones carve out deregulated corporate territories from the host country.

Labour is putting its plans for Britain in the hands of private finance. If the UK government partnership with BlackRock becomes a model replicated elsewhere, debt-financed utility ownership could become normalised internationally.
The UK is being privatised.

Implications for Vulnerable and Working People:
1. Policy Influence on Essential Services:
With direct influence over both investment flows (through BlackRock) and policy frameworks (through WEF), Fink can shape how essential infrastructure is financed globally

The Concentration of Power:
Fink leads BlackRock, which manages over $11 trillion in assets, making it the world's largest asset manager. His dual role as BlackRock CEO and WEF co-chair represents an unprecedented concentration of financial and policy influence.

Larry Fink is now co-chair of the World Economic Forum alongside André Hoffmann in August 2025.
This followed an independent investigation into allegations against founder Klaus Schwab, after which Schwab stepped back from active leadership and Peter Brabeck-Letmathe resigned as interim chair.

This is not economic growth for everyone as Labour likes to constantly remind us of; it is an extraction machine designed for the super-rich to punch down on critical infrastructure within the public sector in order to ultimately privatise it.
It's a giant Ponzi Scheme.

Keir Starmer knows this, which is why he and Rachel Reeves refuse to tax predatory corporations like Blackrock properly.
But they are more than happy to. raise your income taxes on top of the increased bills you pay.

This purchase includes the debt from banks and bond markets.
However, that debt does not sit on Blackrock's books it sits with the company they just bought, the company not the asset manager, has to pay it back. The debt is passed on to you, the consumer in the form of higher bills.

When Green party critics call our thoroughly researched policies that are often worked through for years "simplistic" "undeliverable" etc, they are never specific about which policies or why.

That's because it would reveal that what they really mean is "our donors don't like them"

In November 2024 Starrmer announced that his government is in partnership with US Blackrock, a mega corporation that buys up just about anything with pension funds, and money from investors/shareholders at a higher-than-market-value value price.

This evening I took my mother and daughters to Rushden Hall fireworks.

I am usually conflicted by fireworks but this one allowed me, and 9,999 others to support the local scouting troops.

This show is a dress rehearsal for a major show in London.

Enjoy the finale!
