This was doubtless messaging leaked by the Biden camp to set expectations. To be fair this was before Jan 6th.

I will once again posit you could win with >70% if the vote with the simple "Police settlements come out of their pension fund, not the city funds" policy.
If he had chosen more aggressive types who understood the stakes, and made it clear that he expected the laws to be vigorously enforced things might have gone differently.
Constitution tasks presidents with "faithfully executing the laws" - I know that doesn't make him an enforcement officer but he is ultimately responsible for the departments doing that. And he chose Garland, who was not necessarily a Dem for AG, and for FBI, Wray, a life-long Republican
Biden's stated preference was against investigation but he claimed he would leave that up to Justice. President nominates AG of course so his preferences matter www.nbcnews.com/politics/jus...
they were spearheaded by a Nimby maoist "sound-artist"/ heiress amazingly enough www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017...
Agree - we need to stop disincentivizing building units. Zurich requires builders to rent some portion of new units at cost, amortized over some period. That at least makes those units cost neutral as opposed to our requirements which are a de facto tax.
exactly! I remember when activists broke the window of the new arty coffee shop in Boyle Heights and protested the art galleries there... eventually chasing them out... priorities...
Drive-through should no longer be being built in the urban core period.
why are we permitting drive through in the urban core any more *at all*????
idk - Biden did great things for the economy and for income inequility. But the President is charged with making sure the laws are executed. So the responsibility for holding Trump accountable for his crimes was ultimately Biden's. And he chose "less division" and that was a disaster
witless
yah I've been man-of-the-peopleing more as I get older but I suppose I have time to kill...
whoah there!
Jews were (mostly) expelled ~400 (there have always been some though!), Arabs took over in 7th C in the Arab Conquests. Ottoman Empire controlled from 16thc till WWI by which time Jews were showing back up in numbers. Jews and Arabs are at 50/50 now. That's whose homeland it is.
with you! just feels wrong to pay for a line-skipping perc!
Here's an 'a bit out there' idea to pump way more money into CAHSR in the short term (2029 if we're lucky). When reading the grand jury report on the APM, they spent a lot of time focusing on how profitable LAX is and how the LAWA enterprise fund is extremely flush compared to the city's general -
ppl are assholes
I just can't bring myself to pay for exclusive, line-cutting experiences even when they are cheap! I just feel like we all ought to be .... in the same boat, no?
IF YOU BUILD A BIKE LANE THAT DOESN'T CONNECT TO ANOTHER BIKE LANE THEN YOU DIDN'T BUILD A BIKE LANE
yes indeed. and Traci Park is the worst. Throw a few bucks Faizah's way if you can!
Faizah is the real deal and the best chance LA has to get a functioning city council, one focused on fixing real problems for real people.
sadly Jews are now widely viewed as "foreign" again - presumed disloyal. Rather than understanding US support for Israel in the context of long-standing efforts to achieve hegemony in the Middle East and control the flow of oil, it is seen as the result of trickery and perfidy. Dangerous times.
"Large Asphalt Repair" (sigh) - maybe actually resurface the streets and do what the voters voted for in measure HLA? grrrr
the basket could go up and down depending on yr size
"outlaw foreign influence"?
OH HEY
am I a bad person if I root for the strait to remain closed?
sucks. Why can't we have nice things!
I spent so much of my time in college looking at this exact interface.
