probably an extra ASIC/core that's optimized for AI processing so it's easier to run small local models

been working on a open source replacement for bento.me (which is shutting down) using your bluesky pds to save your data.
still very much work in progress, but can be tried it out here (editing your blento currently desktop only): blento.app
source code (svelte ofc :P): github.com/flo-bit/blento
I see it as an option for when you're one someone else's system lol, some people stare into that light. Also if I'm logged in I expect it to save my preference to my acct but some sites don't (like youtube)
seems like it was channeling the internet as it memed itself in crisis
thnx, very convoluted but good to know, though I imagine those generated alias names would get ignored or garbage collected with any serious use like job applications
Notepad isn't used for note taking or writing, it's the default choice to quickly open any file that contains text for a look or edit, or to jot down temporary text, it was perfect for its use case and preinstalled in Windows since forever. Now it's getting slower, clunkier, less private/secure
I mentioned in the thread that Mail doesn't have free aliases (diff addresses you can send and receive with), and ProtonPass's aliases are only forwarding aliases, you can't send with them.
Bookmarks, I find discovering good posts feels bad when I can't easily save for reference later, major reason I still use some other platforms
Drafts, at least as a fallback for when these apps kick you out of the editor
that's a workaround for the lack of a feature all the alternatives have. Bookmarks are a personal list easily accessible from your profile, not at all like publicly cluttering threads with emojis
poliigon and blenderkit addons for 3D textures and models
I think ls.graphics is awesome and they have a great mockup plugin for Figma (with decent freebies).
Fonts are all over the place, I like to find foundries I like. Would check fontshare.com, youworkforthem.com, creativemarket

I was sorta convinced by a friend that the value of the hype is in attracting investment of money, time and skill to the AI industry which ultimately helps other industries (medical, climate science, edu etc), but the corporate circle jerk is something else.
The thing I don't get is this sense of urgency to get in on the action for a tech whose purpose is to be accessible and easy to use, and whose ecosystem is rapidly changing every year. I think it's great to experiment and build out the ecosystem but the general vision is very murky.
We can only use some forwarding aliases from ProtonPass (awesome manager). Mail feels too important to risk losing access to it the moment a sub is paused, so still using what works.
I want to use it more, but the main idea of ProtonMail is not to give out your main email and to use an alias, and not even having a single alias available for free makes it hard to use or recommend, while mainstream ones do.
screenshot from an online job application form. the question reads "Can you describe specific ways you have integrated AI tools into your development workflow? Please include any custom setups, automations, or use cases beyond single prompt usage" (a red asterisk indicates that this is a required question). an answer has been typed in the textbox below the question: "there is a monster in the forest and it speaks with a thousand voices. it will answer any question you pose it, it will offer insight to any idea. it will help you, it will thank you, it will never bid you leave. it will even tell you of the darkest arts, if you know precisely how to ask. it feels no joy and no sorrow, it knows no right and no wrong. it knows not truth from lie, though it speaks them all the same. it offers its services freely to any passerby, and many will tell you they find great value in its conversation. “you simply must visit the monster—i always just ask the monster.” there are those who know these forests well; they will tell you that freely offered doesn’t mean it has no price for when the next traveler passes by, the monster speaks with a thousand and one voices. and when you dream you see the monster; the monster wears your face."

A CSS property from IE6 is now standardized... and actually pretty useful?
crazy how Framer is now a feature of Figma, and with prolly better CSS parity in the properties pane 🌚
but some key questions for #FigmaSites would be:
- site performance
- web feature parity (how low-code?)
- code quality (semantic HTML/accessibility, sane nesting)
lowcode / nocode / wysiwig
Then, was hoping for freehand vector painting but it's still something lost in Illustrator it seems
Awesome stuff ✨ although I was expecting this announcement to lead into designing for print (dpi, colour profile, diff measures), still don't understand why Figma is allergic to print 🗿
it's always on YouTube same as the video they linked
youtu.be/HXVlgVWI7tc?...
seems possible via Figma Make (AI tool) or Figma Sites, though that would be cool.
In Figma Design that would be two flows, manually typing doesn't usually add to a mockup prototype
I miss the twitter Verge account where the post caption was creative and different from the article title, so I don't feel like an idiot reading both every single time lol
DarkSky work will resume soon. I have been busy 😔
However did you know the app is fully open source? This means anyone can contribute and coding a windows app is quite simple!
Here is a great link to learn how: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...
DarkSky code: github.com/FireCubeStud...
ya, the old ones are pretty genius minimal designs IMO, especially outlook, new ones look too quirky or something.
feels like in the future drawing will become performative arts
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.
They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

the whole idea of Bluesky's AT Protocol and Personal Data Servers is that multiple different apps (a.k.a clients) can work with the same data and user networks. These are separate apps, but you can have the same identity on both
ya, I was wondering why this is so hyped when @pinksky.app exists and is cross-platform already 🤔 is there reason or is it just another insta alt?
A financial management app designed for tracking shared group subscriptions and recurring expenses (between friends etc.). Would people find this useful/valuable?
