I've had a fresh water tank for years, but it's honestly getting close to being retired. I've been a bad fish dad. Right now I just have 2 red tetras and a plethora of snails in a planted 55 gal full of red algae. 😭 I need to spend an evening cleaning and water changing...

"I haven't heard from him," she said. "He's kind of busy right now. My gender marker is not big on the issue. OK. So I get that, and I'm not blaming him whatsoever. I love the guy, and I love what he's doing."

I feel for her, but she voted for this. She just may not be able to do so again...

Poster for Hong Kong film The Cat

The guy who directed the infamous live action Riki-Oh movie ended his career on this insane flick about a cat from outer space that does 2 museum heists, suplexes a dog and fights an enormous goo monster. We used to make MOVIES

I've got some old Sailor Moon or DBZ .rm files if you want to take that RealPlayer for a spin.

So this is definitely a write/call in to reps to tell them to vote no on this bill and any other censorship/"age verification" bills.

Techies capable of explaining stuff in layman's terms? This is our time to shine with putting it in super plain terms why all of this is a bad idea.

Image FM 99.7 Pirate Radio circa 2001/2 Discovered in a purchase of random mix tapes at a boot sale, enjoy!

Recently got in a load of mix rave tapes, most in need of TLC. This was one, very chewed up but managed to save it. It contained Jungle Drum & Bass pirate radio.

Nice one bruva!

I love scripts like that. xcopy is a total champ!

I work on many laptops at work and blowing the dust out is one of the first things I do. Usually we get a whole cat worth of fur out of fans, hah.

No I haven't, but I really want to now!

I'm not sure this software would install on it, but that sounds like an independently fun project. :D

Yep, you know it. Sadly it's a common story in our department.

You all really seem to love Windows XP! I've found my people...! 💚💙

I think I've figured out how to save Microsoft: Windows XP 2.

Boom, 1 billion installs, I can feel it.

I like the idea! Sometimes I suspect that some of this specialized equipment will use driver calls that aren't emulated by WINE yet, but all I can do is try.

In this instance, the software is meant for Win2k or WinXP and talks over network. There's a pretty decent chance it would work!

Oh don't I know it! Fortunately I have a lot of old parts and old experience. I have a pretty decent track record for equipment like this. Some time I'll have to dig up the story of replacing a computer in the campus helium liquefaction facility!

That's awesome! I love hearing about workhorses like this that just keep running. Make sure to back up that hard drive though! It'll fail some day. 😬

Woah, that would be a great printer to work on! Closest I have is a 6 ink poster printer. Not nearly as fun. But we keep that darn thing working indefinitely!

Hah, the fridge does not need that sort of monitoring, no. Kills me to think it could be hobbled by a $100 HDD though.
