This is the third entry in a series of war diaries Azadeh has begun writing since the beginning of the conflict. I’ll share the English version as well, in case you missed it and are interested in reading it. 2/2 open.substack.com/pub/guardedd...

Thanks to @mediapart.fr for translating & republishing my latest essay in French. The piece is largely my translation of a civilian account from the war in #Iran as told by Azadeh Sadeghi, a filmmaker forced to relocate with her family from Tehran to Isfahan. 1/2 blogs.mediapart.fr/reza-h-akbar...
Good point. I agree. I’m also no longer sure if Trump’s statements carry much, if any, analytical value, given his fickle nature and improvisational style.
Trump consciously or unconsciously admitting the same point?
This is the negotiating position of a country with a good hand.
As long as the #Lebanon ceasefire lasts the Strait of Hormuz will be open, #Iran's Foreign Minister announces.
In a moment dominated by geopolitics and opaque negotiations, this is a reminder that for many, survival itself becomes a quiet form of resistance. 3/3
In this context, I translated & contextualized an installment from a young Iranian filmmaker’s war diary. Her writing powerfully captures what it means to reclaim life in the face of death. She does this through small, ordinary acts like cooking, laughing, Nowruz shopping, & appreciating family. 2/3
ICYMI: In my latest, I center the everyday realities & lived experiences of Iranians enduring war. Negotiations are ongoing, & the ceasefire has offered a temporary respite, but the violence has left deep scars that will take years to heal. guardeddomains.substack.com/p/revenging-... #Iran 1/3
Iranian policymakers are using the Strait as a strategic weapon to mobilize the conflict to impose costs and create divisions between regional neighbors and globally, providing Iran a significant advantage. 2/2 #Iran
Told @thenewarab.bsky.social that the Strait of Hormuz is a strategic political asset & an economic lifeline for #Iran. More than likely it is currently more valuable to the Iranians at the negotiation table than nuclear & military programs & its proxy networks. www.newarab.com/analysis/how... 1/2
War accounts from #Iran are marked by recurring themes: sleepless nights, anxiety, displacement, loss of loved ones, a pervasive sense of insecurity, deafening explosions, internet blackouts, closed schools, disrupted businesses, & a growing sense of disillusionment. guardeddomains.substack.com 1/6
Her latest narrative engages w/ the notion of everyday resistance through small acts carried out by her aunts, her mom, and herself. Simple, but ultimately powerful gestures such as laughing with loved ones, cooking, sipping tea, and spring cleaning. 6/6 guardeddomains.substack.com/p/revenging-...
And this is her second entry, which captures the restless nights, the gnawing worries for loved ones who must leave the safety of home each day for work, and the unease of a displacement. guardeddomains.substack.com/p/popcorn-ri... 5/6
Her writings are featured in Iranian Women’s Association, a platform dedicated to amplifying the voices and demands of women. I invite you to read Azadeh’s first and second accounts before turning into her third note. Here is the first: guardeddomains.substack.com/p/they-wont-... 4/6
For those who read my Substack, you may recall her name. She is a filmmaker who was forced to relocate with her family from Tehran to Isfahan to temporarily live with her aunts due to missile bombardment of her neighborhood. She continues to chronicle her experiences of displacement & survival. 3/6
Many also speak of a quiet effort to hold on to some sense of normalcy as their lives unravel around them, a steady determination to continue living in the face of death. Azadeh Sadeghi’s latest war entry captures this relentless will to carry on. guardeddomains.substack.com/p/revenging-... 2/6

The #Iran war dominates the headlines, but the commentary overwhelmingly centers on strategy, energy flows, military posturing, escalation risks, and the regional balance of power. Amid the geopolitical noise, the lived realities of people caught within the conflict fade from the view. 1/6
Born in Bandar Abbas, Mosaferi began photography in 2017. This collection, captured in Hormozgan, draws from his childhood memories. It is a portrait not only of his own past, but of countless others who have grown up along these coasts & continue to inhabit them, even as uncertainty looms. 6/6
His work moves beyond the language of policy and power and brings forward the scenes of ordinary existence and the quiet lives of the people living alongside the Persian Gulf. 5/6 #Iran
