The Avengers: Endgame of Cartoons Combined 10 Franchises (Does It Hold Up After 36 Years?) On April 21, 1990, the iconic anti-drug special, Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, combined ten different franchises for an Endgame-level PSA.

I had totally forgotten this ever existed.

The late 80s/early 90s were really big on huge crossover works, from “We Are The World” to dozens of shared-world novel franchises (most of which are long forgotten). I’m not sure the “get a Darth Vader or Invincible skin in Fortnite” trend is the same.

The message of the Right reacting to Virginia is the same as the message of "2020 was rigged": no victory by anyone but us is ever legitimate. We are the only ones allowed to win.

These people are cartoon villains entitled to no respect and no trust. Rabid dogs.

We couldn't even give my mother grape juice as a substitute for Passover wine. Not because of any weird law, but because she can only swallow thickened liquids.

I find grammar checkers infinitely less useful than spell checkers, so I disable them when I can. And AI "writing" just takes everything wrong with grammar checkers and turns it up to 1000.

Like spell checkers. They're handy, esp. for catching typos, but if you don't know the word you MEAN and how it's spelled, they're useless. Likewise, you need to know the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse, and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal - Why I Couldn't Be a Math Teacher Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal - Why I Couldn't Be a Math Teacher

Exactly. You need to know what numbers to put in, and what they mean, to get a useful result. And you need to have built up the "muscle memory", as it were, from doing math by hand, so you look at a number on a calculator and think, "No, wait, that can't be right." and check your figures.

Yes, because “The Mandalorian”, “God of War”, and “Lone Wolf and Cub” are *clearly* totally woke radical genderqueer 10th wave ultra-trans feminism.

”Dad media” is hugely popular among non-dad men, because men *do*, in fact, have paternal instincts.

Hah! As a programmer, most of my day involves getting paid to fix my own mistakes!

You pay for Lionel Hutz, you get a bad court thingy.

Though honestly he’s a better lawyer than Chat GPT.

More to the point, even ir this *did* happen, the government using laws to punish people who say things Trump doesn’t like is 1000x the threat to free speech than some rando deperate to make the conversation all about themselves by picking on idioms.

Priorities, people!

Even my “copy from Stack Exchange” technique requires me to manually figure out *where* the code goes and edit it from a generic example to a specific implementation, providing a lot of the same benefits. AI teaches nothing.

And programming.

By digging really deep into the source code to track down a problem, I 8understand* the problem, and why the solution works, in a way I never could if an AI “solved” it for me.

My mother talks about people who “just got off the boat”. Mom, you got off the bost in the early 50s. I have the actual papers documenting when you and your parents got off the literal, not metaphorical, boat!

*Sane* people say “What a great opportunity for my son to learn new languages, while his brain is still highly plastic and primed for linguistic assimilation!”

Good bloody luck enforcing this.

Whence public strife and naked crime
And-deadlier than the cup you shun–
A people schooled to mock, in time,
All law–not one.

Cease, then, to fashion State-made sin,
Nor give thy children cause to doubt
That Virtue springs from Iron within
Not lead without.

If charging stations replace gas stations, look for a surge in income from snack sales, as 6 minutes is short enough to be acceptable for regular use but long enough you get bored and go inside "just to see what they've got".

Only if it works, and from recent experiments in LLMs being set up to answer complex legal questions, it doesn't.

"Good enough" can work if it's a bad shadow on an image, but not when it's the difference between Form 17-c-J45 and Form 17-c-K45. (One gets you a machine gun, the other, a pizza oven.)

In my new film THE MINION CANNOT HEAR THE FALCONER, we'll explore the way in which the emergence of 20th century ideologies fractured the once-cohesively evil Minion society into competing fascist and communist blocs that soon come to blows over which form of totalitarianism will shape their future.
