Very generous of Rupert Lowe to use his own family album for this.

I'm confused are people like Clarkson in favour of 'red tape' or not?

Part of the issue is a lack of growth. A recent study showed that cohorts who experience more GDP growth in their lifetimes are more likely to trust the government and have positive perceptions of their living standards. academic.oup.com/qje/advance-... In Britain, such voters are dying out

If you look closely at the bottom you can just about make out the words "would you like some policies to go with this? Just say the word I can help with that"

South west couple left with $200k bill after baby born in US Family face a nine month battle with insurance giant Zurich which has now apologised.

Insurance company in being total barstewards shocker. "Essentially what they said is that we would have been covered had the baby not survived. But the fact was that the baby survived." Nice. At least they paid up in the end...

Indeed.

It will / would involve orders of magnitude more resource / political will / time than has been committed in the various hotchpotch of schemes we all know about...it's a kind of permanent limbo between doing something / seen to be doing something and meh market will sort it out type thinking...

Absolutely right.

More on this in the FT. As noted present funding model is both economically stupid and socially divisive. #Productivity puzzle anyone? 🙄.

Truly the worst of both worlds, not least given a big chunk of the capital will never be repaid anyway.

Probably a fair result in the end, we looked mostly ok certainly better than recently. Stick with the back 4 & keep Bree in.

I guess the market for orange cheese with a half-life rather than use by date is limited in South America...

True enough...I think most did think Reform would win albeit narrowly. Obviously the election itself occurred in tragic circumstances with the previous incumbent (Lab) also being well-liked, but the Lab vote collapsed nonetheless.

I would be a mistake to assume that the Reform vote in Wales is restricted to English retirees and the like. The South Wales Valleys voted strongly for Brexit after all. Although the recent Caerphilly by-election (mixed urban / valleys) suggests Plaid vote might be enough.

Championship Match 26 – Middlesbrough 4 Southampton 0 Exit Finn, Pondering his life choices With no goals in their last seven hours of football, Middlesbrough must be licking their lips with anticipation at playing Southampton this Sunday afternoon. Saints of course kept to clean sheet in their last game, so it’s all adding up to there being absolutely no chance of that being repeated. Middlesbrough have been in the top two all the season, having maybe been expected to be aiming for the playoffs this season, but these four games without a goal have seen them dropped to 3rd place as Ipswich have overhauled them.

League 1 Minus 10. Middlesbrough 4 Southampton 0. RPs appreciated.

Garbage #saintsfc give up. Featuring Odd-Fellows, 10 back but, no one marked, Weak everything, Spreadsheet Management, Azaz life choices and an Inverted Goalkeeper.

I have some sympathy with the view that if you don't want to sit in a queue all day but pay £500 later that's your choice; but isn't the key issue the hoovering up of tickets at source (sometimes it seems with the primary sellers in cahoots, other times industrial bot usage) that distorts the market

On Truss & Kwarteng in ‘22. Allister Heath, Telegraph: “the best budget I have ever heard a British chancellor deliver". Alex Brummer, Mail: “a genuine Tory package elbowing to one side the Treasury's fiscal conservatism".
These men will now be paid actual money for their analysis of today’s budget.

Road sign for 'Skirmish Paintball'

How delightfully quaint some of these old Devon village names are, their etymologies lost in the mists of time.

Actually @path-dependent.bsky.social do you have a report / paper related to your pres that you could share? (was going to DM you here but apparently that now requires age verification, since when has that been a thing?!)

Premier League tickets: Touted resales exposed by BBC highlighted in Brighton vs Spurs match The BBC examines Brighton's ticket operation to explore the scale and human impact of touted Premier League tickets.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba... Efforts to deal with this would be a little more convincing if the #EPL wasn’t a rapacious money-hoovering machine in its own right, never mind the illicit activities that surround it. Also this piece seems to conflate organised touting & fake / scam ticket sellers
