Linux is terrific these days. You just have to forget 75% of games. They don't exist. They never existed

by the end of the 19th century we were already transmitting text using electronic binary signals, so people would've understood the concept of a byte or a web page. The hard part would be explaining why one web page is 49 million bytes

It looks like the GPU generates a frame buffer ("DLSS 5 off"), which is then "improved" by DLSS 5. Is that not by definition post-processing? I think it is. But I'm not the CEO of NVIDIA so what do I know

Genuine question about the new DLSS 5 feature everybody hates: The CEO says it's "It’s not post-processing, it’s not post-processing at the frame level, it’s generative control at the geometry level," How can that be?

The response to this has been negative of course. But many of you also seem confused that a major tech company would devote so much energy into something so few users (be they dev or gamer) actually want. I'd be confused too if they did this in 2006

In practical terms this means NVIDIA expects developers to budget roughly half their rendering overhead on an uncanny "yassification" pass which most gamers will choose to disable if they can

The info you're looking for:

"Nvidia actually used two RTX 5090s for its demos: one plays the game, the other exclusively runs the DLSS 5 technology... However, DLSS 5 is designed for use on a single GPU and that's how it will ship later this year."

I can't think of a better way to convey this info, unfortunately. Every class method and constructor requires a documentation line and though it may seem silly you really don't want to work in an environment where that isn't the case

Blender is licensed under the GNU GPL, which means it must be kept free and open-source in perpetuity. They cannot get one over on you even if they wanted to!

Most newcomers will find Blender's 2D animation workflow inferior to Adobe Animate. The transition will be frustrating. But you have to do it anyway because the Blender Foundation loves you whereas Adobe loves its shareholders

If you are a disgruntled Adobe Animate user you can always reach out to me for help on how to use Grease Pencil in Blender.

A lot of people don't realize how long a billion days is though. To illustrate my point: if you earned a dollar a day for that many days, you'd be a billionaire

GWB: "There's an old saying by The Gambler- I know it's a Kenny Rogers song but he's talkin' to the Gambler- 'you got to know when to hold 'em... and... also you gotta not hold 'em sometimes.'"
