pray for the whole grocery store
pray for every truck before unloading
pray for every shipment of food

why only pray for your own? how selfish
if you already have god on the horn you might as well include the rest of us lol

Still, fixing the most expensive part of any bike is going to be cheaper than most any car repair.

Even for new expensive bicycles, you'll probably spend about $1k/year in maintenance.

One average year for a car (US)?
> $1600 fuel
> $1500 insurance
> $1700 maintenance
> $600 registration
etc.

Now that it's warmer (and gas prices are higher) maybe consider replacing some of your trips with bicycle rides!

You'll get some exercise, see some new things, and you'll save money. Grocery trips are quite managable on a bike, but I've loaded even bigger stuff like furniture too!

Yeah, sure, speaking out is hard, standing up is hard, and it's risky. Those who can afford the risk must take it, or they are complicit in the crimes of this regime. Literally standing idly by, happily profiting, while good people die at the hands of some shortsighted self-centered asshole.

Democrat, Republican, who cares? At this point anyone who isn't screaming about the Epstein files, the broken Geneva convention, the illegitimate war, climate change, the blatant violations of our constitution, the loss of due process, and the lies we all keep being fed - is a traitor to us.

In the short term, nicotine is a stimulant - increasing HR & BP, as well as attention and cognition. So it wouldn't surprise me if you perceived things sharper and noticed more detail in your surroundings.

Sadly, addiction and tolerance start quickly. At that point the useful aspects fade.

What lies ahead is a massive infrastructure project that will require our greatest intellect and global collaboration. Should we fail to reach homeostasis with our environment, our species may very well destroy itself. If we succeed, the dawn of that new age will be bright and beautiful for all <3

This means doing what is best for HUMANITY - not profits, not corporations, and definitely not the ultra-wealthy who dug this hole to begin with. They don't care about our future as long as it is a future where they are rich and we are powerless to change that.

Third, we prioritize longevity and our own future over cost-cutting and instant gratification.

Why do we build things designed to fail? Why do we manufacture things meant to be thrown away? Does it really have to be that way? Wouldn't we be better off with things built to last?

Second, we should change how we think about cities and transportation. New communities should be built for PEOPLE, not cars. Walkable, bikable, safe, quiet, and convenient. When we build efficient cities, efficiency becomes the easy default for their residents.

First, we need to stop making new IC (internal combustion) vehicles, the sooner the better. Existing vehicles should continue to be used and maintained as we work through building up renewable energy and phasing out fuel infrastructure.

This is the lowest combined economic and ecological impact.

Unfortunately, we aren't ready, and it isn't enough. Even taking all the cars off the road immediately and making everyone walk would NOT STOP the effects of climate change.

The best solution isn't to wastefully throw away, it's to change and reduce. Ideally we do that from several angles at once.

That's awful, I'm sorry to hear that, cross-contamination is a killer.

Even knowing there is some risk involved won't stop me from occasionally eating prepared foods. I can't just live my life in fear, I have to trust that the odds are actually in my favor here; more people don't get sick than do.

I've been decently impressed with gas station food in recent years. The ones near me have delicious sandwiches and hot dogs that they actually keep reasonably fresh. They even have a full array of sauces and fresh vegatable toppings (tomatoes, onions, jalepenos, sauerkraut, etc).

the best cooking is vibe-based

you can do it with baking too but you've really gotta know your stuff, mostly I just do breads and dough by vibe since I've gotten a good feel for hydration and gluten development

Costco gas prices are relatively stable, but even still... last week I paid $2.49, today I paid $2.94. That's the highest per-gallon price I've paid since I started tracking my fuel spending and usage in June of last year.

cop tailgated me for two residential miles while I drove the speed limit, then stopped me because my brake light was flickering occasionally

I was polite and respectful
I was and still am extremely anxious
But mostly I'm just pissed off that anyone would think this is the best use of their time

This brought back memories... When I was in elementary school one of the other kids brought in their DSi in this exact color.

We weren't exactly friends, he was way more popular than me, but I got to sit and watch him play - basking in the kind of amazement you can only have when you're 10.

perhaps... but smaller independent websites are dying out, old hosting services close down, images become corrupted or unavailable, links disconnected, and AI is pumping everything full of convincing-looking misinformation

but we can still read books, learn, and stand witness to our own history

Agreed!

I know there's issues with the DSM and it's not the end-all-be-all for mental health, BUT it's still interesting and still represents progress towards better understanding of ourselves and the human condition.

Hey friends, it's -15 degrees outside! In temps like this, exposed or improperly insulated skin can get frostbitten in as little as 10 minutes. Here's how you care for it if it happens.

First, you need to identify what level of frostbite you have!

Yikes! I generally love Costco but have never worked with their optical department... that sounds terrible. You should be able to take your signed prescription anywhere and use it to order contacts, including online. They have no right to interfere with you having a copy of your own medical records.

Additionally, who thinks boarding early is such a great privilege? I can't believe they charge more for it. The last thing I want to do is spend extra time sitting on the thinnest cheapest seats crammed inside a smelly flying tube.

Being AuDHD can mean living in extremes:

All-in… or checked out

Not hungry… or absolutely starving

Way too early… or running late

A cluttered home… whilst needing order

Wanting company… but far too overstimulated to socialise

Craving novelty… but also needing everything to stay the same 🫠

Two golden US one dollar coins stacked on top of each other slightly askew so the years on both coins are visible side-by-side. The coin on top is George Washington 1789-1797, and below is Abraham Lincoln 16th President 1861-1865. Lincoln has much smaller text.

I'm not sure if it's intentional or just part of my sample, but I also noticed the text for the years is a smaller font on presidents who were in office less than four years. Here's Washington and Lincoln.

Also interesting to note, the president coins have the years they were in office stamped on them. Well, I just happened to get one coin of the shortest-term president, William Henry Harrison, who died in office after just one month. He only gets one year listed.

19 one dollar US coins sorted by type

19 one dollar US coins sorted by type

I bought a physical bus ticket for the first time a few days ago, and all I had was a $20 bill that my grandma gave me. I didn't realize I'd be getting $19 in coins back... but it's still kinda cool to see the variation.

✨Friendly reminder:

Autistic people can overstimulate other autistic people too - and that’s okay

Different sensory needs, communication styles or energy levels can clash sometimes

Different needs don’t make anyone wrong. They just mean we navigate with care and understanding ❤️
