I mean, this is just gonna be a bigger part of the Heidecker universe, which is a natural progression. He has 17 seasons of playing an Alex Jones-like figure under his belt.

The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”

Assuming you’ve listened to their re-record of the rejected record that led to this one getting recorded instead? Feeler?

A couple points on this manifesto, apart from the racial superiority subtext others noted.

Palantir is a company built on public contracts, they bill the state billions to surveil and target the state's population. The manifesto exists to justify their demand for even more.

Now do you think tech is moving to your city or it’s gone more mainstream or both

Thief comes to mind, especially with Mann talking about how his entire filmography is mostly about labor.

I also don’t know that we’re making things better by softening the label of marginalized citizens. While I understand how much it may hurt to hear yourself referred to a certain way, “Justice involved” whatever sounds like someone working in a chosen profession. You’ve already lost at that point.

I mean, is it unreasonable to see this stuff and believe the future is doomed if you’re just Some Guy who doesn’t understand all the ins and outs of how this stuff works?

Southern dems understand this better than anyone. I think it’s maybe the primary problem at the core of pushing people away from the party at the end of the day.

To be fair, the company is struggling big time as I understand it and this is definitely a pivot, not the expansion/diversification it’s being marketed as.

Iris Long, Scientific Mentor to AIDS Activists, Dies at 92

It’s hard to express how important Iris was to ACT UP’s scientific development. She was the catalyst who started it all. Iris Long, Scientific Mentor to AIDS Activists, Dies at 92 www.nytimes.com/2026/04/17/h...

I’m always saying this. It’s the ones who drink alone you gotta worry about out the most.

I do remember someone at my old bank being like “OH YOU DON’T NEED ALL THAT STUFF” but they’ve obviously never worked with a foreign corp and yeah it sucks

3 days ago 1 0 0 0

Well, that isn’t true. My personal account gets paid that way from foreign accounts all the time and that’s just how it goes. No VAT of course but yeah, all that info exists and is usable for non-business types and should honestly be on your bank’s web site

So, the WayMo rollout in Nashville has been a complete disaster. Is this the case everywhere and they’re just good at making sure news doesn’t go wide or is our city just special?

We’re doing great here in my home state.

Only good reason to live here past the general cost vs most other places is if you work in music. With the incoming property-tax led apocalypse that will kill a good chunk of what’s left of local business and culture may even seal the deal on that (a few studios are closing because of it already)

Never could have foreseen the whiplash of personal belief and perspective re: pharma and alt health I went through due to COVID. Give me all the groundbreaking pharmaceutical science now, please.

That last one is loaded and doomy and the end is very likely not to be nigh! Very hard to feel that way currently. Anyway, none of this squares and all my favorite local business are closing because nobody’s spending money on anything extracurricular anymore it seems like. That’s all I know.

The vibecession is real.

The economy is also bad/not working for too many people in a way that doesn’t contradict precedent or the reasons why many say the economy is good.

Folks who are doing fine (myself included) are officially tired of never getting ahead and feel like the end is nigh. 2/
