As of today, trans and nonbinary people still exist, will continue to exist, and have always existed.
Here's a quick intro about me:
1. I'm 40 years young.
2. I married the woman who has supported me through everything.
3. I'm a self employed Holistic Personal Trainer and Breathwork Coach.
4. I had top surgery July 2023.
5. I started HRT December 2023.
6. I'm a Shortking at 161cm/5.3"
As you know by now, I am almost never short of words, so thus far, I'm not getting the feel of the short Twitter-like messages yet (hence this long thread ๐). We'll see. I don't have answers, sorry. But please feel free to share your thoughts on this!
When the number of users is high enough, they will be under supervision from authorities as well. No need to say more about that part. So, honestly, I don't know. For now, I'm keeping my Instagram account, and in the meantime, I'm trying to get used to Bluesky.
I've made some true connections along the way, and I'm very grateful for them. Could we build a new community on something like Bluesky? I think we can. But how long before that platform is taken over by bullies or sold to the highest bidder?
Is there any point in keeping my Insta account then? I really don't know. Should we let ourselves be bullied away from it? Definitely not! I met many beautiful people via that platform; it filled my heart with warmth in this often very cold world.
Posts that have anything to do with our community have been restricted for a long time now. I haven't felt very enthusiastic about posting anymore because of that.
It probably will get worse.
So here is how I see it: the fact that Meta admitted to the change in their policy is new, but nothing actually changed. They never fact-checked anything, and hate speech against people like me has been flowing freely on a daily basis. Since the beginning of 2024, my reach has declined enormously.
Yesterday I announced that I'm making the transfer to Bluesky. I got a lot of messages if that means that I'll be deleting my Insta account and what my vision is on this alarming matter.
