Earlier this year I wrapped up a bilingual teaching tool called "BlinkR". It helps teach experimental design, data gathering, and statistical analysis using R. It is also written in #rshiny + google drive/ sheets storage to make it easier for novice users #stemteaching

Currently in the process of re-working my CV to a narrative CV and finding it unexpectedly challenging, but in the best way. But, admittedly, also in an existential crisis kind of way... anyone got any advice? #narrativecv #researchculture #DORA
Woo! Finally out: my critical opinion on GenAI use in academia

AI doesn’t know when something feels off. But you do. Add your review on Paperstars
In all the excitement of #Metascience2025 I failed to mention that we are actually live now... paperstars.org
Sign up, give it a go, and let's make this happen 👏
Meine Probleme damit:
I am just an ECR standing in front of Science Bluesky asking them to follow her [over on @paperstarsorg.bsky.social]

It really helps. Even if you mute me again (I hope you don't)
Taking a deep breath and hoping the internet is kind today.
❗️Still under development but time to share. I'm working on a platform for researchers to rate & review scientific papers.
@paperstarsorg.bsky.social making research better, not just louder.

Okay stupid smug smiling face. I can stop anytime. Well I’m sorry you can’t count past 99 tabs, Chrome.
hm should have checked the hashtag first... let's go with #RShiny
💫 Anyway, that's enough for now. My timeline is less lonely and you know a bit more about me.

Looking to formally examine the proposed benefits of using this scaffolded learning approach via BlinkR soon!
10/➡️
collect the data, carry out analysis in a scaffolded R environment, and interpret the results. Accessible via any device. We (@melanieistefan.bsky.social and I) have run a version of the analysis section with one cohort and gotten some positive student feedback.

BlinkR is a tool for educators to run an experiment, allowing students to design and plan an experiment (in this case, specifically measuring blink rate in response to a stressful video vs a neutral video - but it can definitely be adapted to anything),

👁️ Most recently I have been working on an educational shiny app that, enigmatically is called “BlinkR” as per popular naming R-things conventions. It is still a WIP, but then, what isn’t?

👩💻 speaking of shiny, I am (like most I’d wager), a self-taught #shiny (for R) enthusiast and am always looking for ways to create new and exciting tools with shiny. also excited to develop my skills!

3. 👩🔬 Metascience: I am interested in all things #metascience, learning from our mistakes and working towards an open and trustworthy scientific culture. I am working on something exciting (for me and hopfully for you too) so stay tuned!
5/➡️
2. 🔬 Depression as a research topic: Admittedly, this one is still a little vague. Largely because I have ideas, but they are still germinating and it's still too scary share my thoughts out loud
4/➡️
1. 👩🏫 Educational Work: I am interested in being an effective educator and science communicator, and helping students at all levels. Also, developing educational tools.
3/➡️
✨ like a distracted magpie, I am attracted to anything *shiny* that piques my interest
🖌️ in broad strokes my interests can be broken down into three pillars
1. 👩🏫 Educational Work
2. 🔬 Depression as a research topic
3. 👩🔬 Metascience

Best way to start my time line is with an introduction:
👋🏼 my name is Danny
📍I live in Edinburgh but work in Berlin (remotely)
🎓 completed my neuroendo PhD at Edinburgh Uni (2024) [prenatal stress rat model + anxiety]
🧠 now a postdoc with @melanieistefan.bsky.social at MSB
