I also only do comic cons, so this was kind of a shocker to me to see and needed a vibe check!

On top of that I have to pay for shipping and sales tax so if you think about it, it's even less than 40%.

Kind of a full disclosure, I can't actually order my published books directly from my publisher. Which seems like something I should be able to do, but I simply can't. So I have to order my books elsewhere, which only takes about 40% off the cover price. So 7% of my 40% profit is a ton!

Noticed a specific book fair around my area is asking for authors to pay a table fee AND 7% of their sales. Is this normal? This seems insane.

I’ve seen an increased amount of PB cosplayers, and it feels like it was 0 last year to like 3-5 per con I’ve been to. Mostly younger folks so I’m curious what happened LMAO!

The amount of really disappointed faces I get at cons and I always get very close to explaining that I am a man who makes gay things explicitly for my gay ass. Yes I may have a big fairy lady ogling over a lady knight print but sometimes I’m feeling my bi side peek out ALRIGHT?!

Been considering making a yuri door hanger but I must be really clear rn. I made the yaoi door hanger because I’m literally gay and read gay things… I didn’t think to make a yuri one the door hanger was for me! A gay man.

Originally I felt like it was a place to host your OC refs and show off your OCs, but I think people have turned it into a place that you can sell commissions/adoptables as well.

A scene from in the VIP pit of a Lancer mech duel in the Grand Arena of Throne Karrakis. Colorful pennants sway in the breeze high above the stadium. Huge shades that look like translucent petals shade the spectators, seated in the sandy white gallery stands. The architecture flows and curves rather than being rectilinear or purely circular. Pointed archways from the main arcade level. Ornate fluorescent light chandeliers light up the shaded stands. On the Field, a massive black Lancer frame lunges forward with a black broadsword, boosted forward with back-mounted rockets. A red ponytail flows from its helm. Parrying the blow in a shower of sparks is a sage green Lancer frame with a curved scimitar-like sword. It pirouettes on digitigrade legs, its blue cape tails swirling in the arena dust. It is adorned with golden filigree. In the pit, two factions face off, each representing their frame in demeanor and attire. On the left, matched with the black knight mecha, a cadre of nobles (perhaps from the House of Stone), all in black and red and metal and furs, stand haughtily. If you're a manga reader, watching the anime is such a treat!!! The extra scenes and layers are AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING.

I was looking forward to episode 3 because it truly was what was going to define how I felt about the anime, and they really REALLY did it. They added so much meaning to every aspect of that little arc and I'm so so happy to have cried.
