Using my 'quiet time' (touch wood!) to finally read some completed PhD theses to get an idea of how much I'm actually gonna have to write. Wierdly, not as overwhelming as I expected π

Met up with my second screener to chat scoping review, spent most of the meeting gushing about how great and user friendly rayyan is π
For something a little different, sitting under a giant moon art installation for an evening lecture examining "evidence" the moon landing was fake - entertaining and educational!
Tl;dr update: scoping review is well underway, recruitment is about to start (scary and exciting!), and I went way out my comfort zone and participated in the 3 minute thesis competition π¬
Guess who took a mental health break from social media and uhhhh... forgot to come back?
(It's me.)

I am a PhD student based at Liverpool Hope University. I am trans and bisexual and I live with multiple chronic illnesses. Interested? Day 205 - ethics π«
Three weather stone outdoor plant pots potted with three different plants; one a long stem with purple flowers, one a selection of pink and yellow flowers, and one with big white leaves.
Day 203 - lil bit of spss this weekend cos I'm stressed about how long its taking, made up for it by impulse buying some plants for these pots we inherited. Hoping they'll be a bit harder to kill than houseplants π€
Despite talking about a #queer subject in queer spaces, I still find myself trying to fit a normative way of presenting. Using academic speak, trying not to rabbit hole, working out when I can swear. I am a storyteller in many ways, and this is no exception. #AutRes

Day 200 - took a bit of a social media break, but I'm back and making progress πͺ scoping review protocol is done and sent for feedback, and I'm starting some exciting recruitment π
Day 169 - back from a week of stage managing at the Keswick convention and ready (ish) to tackle a week of unread emails π§
Text says Happy International Non-binary people's day. Image is of a hand holding a non-binary flag on a stick against a purple and yellow gradient background with the TransActual logo in the bottom right corner
Happy International Non-Binary People's day to all of our non-binary siblings around the world.
Non-binary people have always existed and always will.

Day 157 - Arrived in Manchester for #ifph2025!
A black fluffy cat sleeping on an arm, which rests on a laptop keyboard.
Day 155 - a day buried in spss, but at least I had company π±
Day 151 - back from Wales and frantically trying to catch up on RA work...
Hey! Yes definitely. I'll shoot you a message, but also if you wanted to come to the seminar just to find out about what research is currently happening you'd be more than welcome :)
Final workshop on publishing and sharing research.
Day 150 - starting the final day with a career development workshop, which currently involves us reading our bluesky/linkedin bios and getting group feedback π
We're also still looking for people to present posters of their research, so if you're doing any type of LGBTQ+ research and want to share it, please do get in touch :)
If anyone is involved in LGBTQ+ research and happens to be around Liverpool on July 17th, why not come along to the first q:LJMU seminar - a chance to share and hear about LGBTQ+ research and connect with both researchers and community organisations!

Day 149 - continuing the summer school with presenting my PhD project and listening to others present theirs. Got some great feedback and some really fun discussions about everyone's research.
The remains of a stone wall mostly taken up with a large, arched, empty window, through which can be seen a grassy hilltop and a blue sky.
A stretch of sand leading to a bay dotted with craggy rocks, with long wild grass in the foreground and a scattering of white clouds in a sunny sky.
It was worth coming to the summer school just for the beauty of Ynys Llanddwyn <3
Finished up the morning with an overview of systematic reviews, and a really interesting and helpful talk on co-creation and arts based approaches. This afternoon, off to the beach! π
Starting the summer school with a health economics masterclass. Think I managed to grasp the basics, and especially appreciated the frequent 'stand up and stretch' breaks π
Day 147 - arrived in Bangor for a health research summer school! Spent the day spotting everything that's changed since doing my undergrad here... and getting sunburnt, oops βοΈ
A black cat sitting on a red computer chair, one paw outstretched.
Day 144 - managed some more scoping review practice, despite the fluffball stealing my seat every time I stood up.
A white nonbinary person in a black t-shirt and purple glasses wearing large headphones stands next to a professional microphone and a music stand with a script on it.
Day 143 - I actually have been working on my PhD, but today I made my voice acting debut! Being part of a research group opens up the strangest of opportunities π
A ball of yarn that starts red, and changes through all the colours of the rainbow. Attached is the start of a crochet project, currently a long red oval with a half complete scalloped round.
Day 139 - finally decided on a project for this gorgeous (and more expensive than anticipated) yarn. Here's hoping I don't mess it up ππ§Ά
Day 138 - programme approval approved π₯³ nice to have one thing finished amongst the seemingly never ending to-do list π
