Daniel also started out as a side character for my early webcomic, Vampire Phantasm, but I dropped that entire comic to make a new one for him instead. š
Devil's Trill is the one story where I went in with a Victorian dark romance in mind, designed OCs for it, and stuck with it, for the most part.
Both, in a way? I may start out designing them with a specific story/genre in mind, but I must find a way to be obsessed with my MCs. Devere and Knell have always been in a fantasy story, but I changed to entirely different themes in part to fit a direction I wanted to go with their characters.
