Colored ink drawing of Orlaith from Dread Delusion. She carries her huge greatsword over her shoulder. An ornate magical key floats above her left hand. The background is split between large glass tanks holding ancient corpses and a scene of huge mushrooms and floating islands beneath the sunlike Neuron Star. Its long flares wind through the magenta background.

I can't stop playing Dread Delusion, so here we are.

Pen and ink illustration depicting a crater in the middle of a sparse pine forest. A glowing meteor sits in the depression, and facing it, a woman kneels, head upturned towards the starry sky.

Three large, eldritch beasts approach through the trees towards the meteor. The first has many tall, jointed legs and a bony head. The second is serpentine, with a loop-shaped head fronted by tendrils. The third is a dark, six-limbed figure with a featureless bullet-shaped head and glowing eyespots on its chest.

It is #PortfolioDay once more. I'm a traditional illustrator specializing in pen and ink. I've contributed to a number of fiction publications and TTRPG projects, and I am currently looking for more work!

Trying to remember how to doodle in my sketchbook for fun. Looked at some Moebius stuff and allowed myself a little stippling as a treat

I absolutely love his earlier stuff and draw a lot of inspiration from it, but I'm consistently blown away by how his work from the past decade or two just distills form and light down to its absolute essentials. Not a line wasted.

Ink illustration on two goat scapulae (shoulder blades): on the left, a knight wields a halberd surrounded by ivy vines. The Latin word INCREMENTUM (growth) is in the top corner of the bone.
On the right, a dragon breathing fire, surrounded by burning vines. In the top corner, the Latin word INTERITUS (destruction).

Sketchy painting depicting lineages (peoples) of Omios Ures. Top to bottom:

Carverine, man, an orcish, 2 meter tall ape-like humanoid with tusks
Human, woman, wearing armor, brandishing a half-moon shaped axe, a roundish black conical helmet with a golden pointed tip and a yellow cape
Bhek'Gaa, a bipedal lizard, draped in black and white sorceress fabrics.
Dweorg, a bronze-hued little woman made of metal, wearing armor that matches her skin.
Gnomos, very tiny elderly man with a beard as long as himself, a cane and a multi-spectacled artificer's glass.

Glad to hear! I kinda feel like if it's really a passion project, something you're always thinking about--you WILL finish it eventually. You'll already have to deal with bill-paying deadlines, so don't set any hard ones for yourself. Just focus on continuous work at a pace that feels comfortable.

I've been in the second camp, and basically you've gotta think of your project timeline in years, not months. I average 20-30 pages a year working around commissions and my day job. I'm sure some people can work faster but slow and steady allows me to keep my sanity and (eventually) complete stuff.

Thanks! I saw the Moebius concept art for Dune when I was young before I even read the book, so that sorta baroque style has always been in my head when I think about the setting. Way more fun to draw that way too.

I really liked how the movies captured scale but almost all the visual design felt functional at best, uninspired at worst. It was like Halo with keffiyehs.
My favorite depictions of Dune are the ones that lean into the feudal and middle eastern influences over straight sci-fi

The necromancer I did for UNDER THE SHADOW OF HELFAST SPIRE, a Shadowdark module by Bob Mason. I did all the class illustrations for this one and they're all really fun takes on classic TTRPG archetypes.
