When the world goes to shit, I appreciate having an escape where miracles and goodness are possible. Call it sad to rely on such comforts, but let's be real: the human mind was not built to deal with and comprehend the hellscape of our world on such a huge scale.

I think a little escapism is okay.

I've just heard it a lot recently and while I don't think those complaints are completely invalid, I also think there's room for those stories, even if it makes me naive. God knows we need them right now to hold onto any sort of hope or faith in this shitty world.

It has to be REALLY poorly written or inserted in poor tastes for me to dislike it.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate mediums with realistic ideas and perspectives. I'm down for mature takes and stories. I just don't think a story is worth dismissing because it's too "immature" or "unrealistic".

I think the reason I still embrace things like the power of friendship and love conquers all in my content is I'm so sick of seeing the world go to shit that the last shred of naivete inside me clings to the idea that there remains good and hope in a world that hates it.
