The way we live and the expectations of friendships we have just aren’t built in a way that prioritizes those relationships in the same ways. It doesn’t feel as committed or intimate, especially when those friends have intimate romantic/sexual partners their lives revolve around

I had a very similar experience of realizing I was asexual as a teen but not accepting that I was aromantic until I was older (about 4 years ago). It really hit me hard, I think I clung onto the idea of a romantic relationship for some sort of sense of normalcy and not being “alone”.

I’ve accepted the idea of being alone but I don’t know how to be happy about it.
I have friends who I love but jealousy makes it hard when their partners are around. Why should this comparatively new relationship take so much priority in your life?
