ICYMI: I wrote a piece on emerging xG trends across some of Europe's biggest leagues joeninho.beehiiv.com/p/what-stori...
A piece on early season trends looking at #ManUtd, #Coventry, #Leicester, #Girona and Europe's unluckiest club joeninho.beehiiv.com/p/what-stori...

I can't believe people involved in football still have this outdated view in 2025. Martin O'Neill in today's Guardian on expected goals.
#Juventus have scored eight goals from 2.63xG this week. They’ve also conceded seven goals from 2.64xG.
A 5-0 win is definitely a step in the right direction! Much better shooting, too. Over half of the shots were on target (11/21), 2.33xG (of which 2.02 were from open play) and a masterclass from Jaden Philogene #itfc #ipswichtown #superblues
I've put together some thoughts an analysis on whether Ipswich Town need to worry following their indifferent start to life back in the Championship joeninho.beehiiv.com/p/should-ips...
This is win-win for Nuno, right? He doesn’t have to work with Marinakis and Edu, and his stock has never been higher. There’s an argument to say that given their over-performance last season and European football this, Forest were always going to have a difficult season
Last week, I wrote this and said, if you look at the numbers, Bolton and Grimsby are underperforming, while Gillingham and Stockport and over performing.
Yesterday: wins for Bolton and Grimsby; defeats for Gillingham and Stockport.

ICYMI I made my first post yesterday, looking at the early season trends in #efl Leagues One and Two joeninho.beehiiv.com/p/what-s-hap...
5. Shrewsbury Town. The anti-Bradford.
4. Rotherham United. Hot take. Matt Hamshaw is not doing a good job.
3. Huddersfield Town. Lee Grant's education at the Kieran McKenna School of Management is paying off.
2. Bradford City. *This* is how you start in a new league.
Some other interesting starts to the season there wasn't space to explore.
1. Blackpool. An expected goal difference of around -1 per game.
For my first piece, I take a look at some of the data trends emerging in #EFL Leagues One and Two joeninho.beehiiv.com/p/what-s-hap...
#footballanalytics #leagueone #leaguetwo #xG
Plus there's no room in either of those teams for Chieo Ogbene, Wes Burns, Harry Clarke or Conor Chaplin, which is crazy
Replacing Burgess, Tuanzebe, Morsy, Phillips, Luongo, Broadhead, Hutchinson and Delap with Kipré, Young, Furlong, Matusiwa, Núñez, Egeli, McAteer, Akpom and Azón looks like great business.
It'll take a while to gel, but this is a ridiculously stacked squad for the Championship. The First XI is better than last season's in the Premier League, and the Second XI should be a Top 6 team.

I’ve been playing around with Python and xG data and… bloody hell #itfc #ipswichtown #analytics #xg
Well that didn't take long to need updating.

On the eve of the #EFL #Championship season, this is probably Ipswich Town's strongest possible starting 11. Will be interesting to see how this changes over the course of the month #ipswich #itfc
