I dug into the intra-party fervor over Republican gubernatorial candidate Victor Marx, who, like many of the candidates, has made a series of bizarre and insane claims. Marx, however, is facing a lot of pushback from prominent Republican politicos.

The COTimes Recorder will host an online panel & fundraiser May 12, to discuss its investigation that illuminates how conservative donors, like billionaire Phil Anschutz, have poured millions into dark-money groups -- centered around Advance Colorado -- focused on public relations & ballot measures.
Good morning! it is snowing at the capitol, and I am here for my third CO March for Life.
Thank you, Alamosa Valley Courier, for furthering our reporting on ICE holdrooms across the state. Read their coverage of a meeting between Rep. Jeff Hurd and local immigration advocates who called on him to commit to visiting hold rooms and call for oversight:
Obligatory note that John Eastman was during this time the visiting scholar in conservative thought and policy at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Denver's Archbishop says President Trump's rant against the Pope is "not acceptable" and "does not serve the common good" after Trump unleased a diatribe against Pope Leo and shared a photo depicting himself as Jesus Christ.
This woman is a handpicked Trump supporter from Arkansas and she is less anti-trans than the median Atlantic columnist
Erin Lee's political crusade has largely targeted transgender youth, but when pressed, she said that students -- primarily "straight white kids" -- are indoctrinated or pressured into assuming other identities, too.

“They want to take on @apnews.com. That’s really ambitious, and if Center Square has that conservative, right-leaning label, that’s probably going to hinder that effort.”
I wrote about this week's protest in Co Springs, and the reaction to the Supreme Court's conversion therapy decision:

Mesa County DA Dan Rubinstein's statement on the Colorado Court of Appeals ruling directing the trial judge to reconsider his sentence.
INBOX: Mesa County DA Dan Rubinstein, the Republican who prosecuted Tina Peters, notes that the "jury's verdicts... were affirmed in full" and that the court didn't find the sentence "excessive or inappropriate, but instead identified a narrow issue requiring reconsideration."
Minority Leader Caldwell did not respond to multiple requests for comment as to his role in UADF, which events he attended, and whether he supports Joe Oltmann’s campaign for state GOP Chairman.
Good afternoon. I’m in downtown Co Springs for a rally in response to the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Colorado’s conversion therapy ban. The court did not overturn the law, but did say that preventing therapists from discussing non-affirming was a violation of the First Amendment.
we went to Sloans Lake Alamo last week and the ordering system wouldn't take anyone's credit cards. they had to send someone in to take orders. it's a shitshow. and it's intended to bust the union, i suspect.
The rally concludes.
Last is Jack Teter of Planned Parenthood, a trans adult.
Likens the anti trans campaign to right wing campaigns against abortion, noting former state sen Kevin Lundberg, a founder of the group running the initiatives, has been involved with past anti-abortion campaigns
Anna Hallen also has a trans daughter.
“I’m standing here with some fear, but also a strong sense that this is not a moment to stay quiet.”
As a parent she worries about the potential for invasive inspections of students if the sports ban passes.
We’ve got a pissed-off grandma in the crowd
Followed by Rabbi Elizabeth Sacks: “I am a rabbi, and I am a parent.”
Rev. Heather McDuffee of Interfaith Alliance speaks now. Contests initiative proponents’ claims that Christian faith justifies targeting trans kids, as a religious leader herself.
“Love looks like supporting young athletes, not surveilling their bodies.”
This is Mike Smith, whose kids are not trans. But he arguing the initiatives could affect his family — his daughter participates in sports, and could be singled out for above-average height if the trans sports ban passes.
Next up is Catherine Lindsay, mother of a trans daughter.
“No kid should worry the government is going to step into their life and tell them they don’t belong.”
“If you don’t know, vote no,” she says, saying the initiatives are “poorly written,” and vague enough to have unintended consequences
One Colorado Executive Director Nadine Bridges opens, talking about the initiatives. She calls out the initiatives for putting the government & politicians in family’s personal decisions.
Some of the signs in the crowd here:
This is the campaign against a set of right-wing ballot initiatives targeting trans kids, which made the ballot last week. I’ve written about these initiatives extensively:

I am at the launch event for Families Not Politics at the state capitol, starting in a few minutes.
But here's the kicker... H.R.6703 has not been signed into law yet. In fact, the Senate doesn't seem to have even voted on it.
I asked Evans's office to clarify this, and received no response.
Presumably, he's talking about H.R.6703. He touted his support for that bill in December, when Republicans had attacked him for his 'no' vote on a bill that would have criminalized doctors who provide gender-affirming care to minors. (2/3)
