God also knows when you use God’s name in vain. And “in vain” doesn’t mean what this person probably thinks it means.

Right? If the alternative is “don’t do a No Kings” would that have been better? At least where I am, it laid the groundwork for the upcoming May 1 strike

And it gave them the confidence to challenge the local conservative incumbent state senator who’s run unopposed as long as anyone can remember.

We (dem progressives) are finally acknowledging the importance of local elections and grassroots campaigning. That’s what these rallies really represent

We had MILLIONS of people at no kings events across the country who’ve now taken the small step of protesting in a “glorified parade”. But maybe now they are a little less scared for the actual march. Or maybe they attended a no kings event in their very rural red town where they are a minority

Holocaust survivor and activist Hedy Epstein passes at 91 (St. Louis Public Radio) – Hedy Epstein was arrested 10 days after Michael Brown was killed by a police officer in Ferguson, in August 2014. She didn’t like the way people who were demonstrating again...

My friend Hedy (www.stlamerican.com/news/local-n...) taught me to make myself useful however I can. When she and 8 others was arrested in Ferguson after Michael Brown’s murder, hundreds had marched to the governor’s office and thousands had been protesting w/o marching.

If these events were the be all end all—then absolutely. But let’s reflect: the march on Washington (MLK’s famous 1963 “I have a dream” speech) had 250,000 people. Bloody Sunday
of 1965 (aka Selma to Montgomery) had about 600 people. do you have Selma w/o Washington?

💯 the objectives are to bring people together and normalize resistance. I’m in the quintessential “blue dot đŸ””â€ of Nebraska. Trust me, there are people here doing the hard work. But the “No kings” provides important energy and entry into the infrastructure. It serves a purpose.

Yard sign I passed walking to work this morning that reads “John Cavanaugh for Congress. Stand up to Trump, defend the blue dot”

If John Cavanaugh is elected to Congress, then MAGA republican Gov Pillan chooses Cavanaugh’s replacement in the Nebraska state unicameral. That seems like an ineffective way to “defend the đŸ””â€ especially when we have other great congressional options in (my pick) Denise Powell and Crystal Rhoades

IT guy #1 (about my work laptop): you’re running an IP config?

IT guy #2: oh, we’re deeper than that. *typity-type-clickity-clack* POINTS TO SCREEN

ITG #2: *eyes get big* domain not detected. No wonder she can’t do anything

I don’t know what any of this means but it seems bad.

I like Cavanaugh. In fact, I’ve voted for him twice. But he will still have two years remaining on his term in the unicameral, and Pillen would get to hand pick the replacement. So, since I voted for Cavanaugh to be my senator, I’m going to do that; I’ll be supporting Denise Powell for congress.

One of our research SLPs is practicing a guest lecture on critically evaluating science (and pseudoscience) for a speech and hearing program. Looks like we are going to do an activity inspired by @lewan.bsky.social. It’s fun to have my two worlds collide.

Since you seem to like the Traitors, Stephan Fishbach of US Survivor just published this fictionalized account of a reality strategy game contestant. My copy of Escape came in the mail yesterday so no personal review. But I’ve heard that it is simultaneously quite realistic but quite unserious.

Omaha showed up for today’s protest against the paramilitary occupation of Minneapolis and ICE’s executions of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. I’ve been to dozens of protests at 72nd and Dodge. I have never seen this many protesters and this level of overwhelming support from passing cars.

Ten years ago, he told us what he expected from his supporters. His as he predicted, he has committed crimes and they still voted for him. He continues to lead members at every level of his administration in criminal acts. When will we hold him accountable?

(1) Iron iron iron (2) keep tension on your thread as you thread your machine or it’s likely to knot (aka nest). (3) Drawstring bags are a great starter project: There’s tons of YouTube tutorials; They don’t require much fabric; pretty much anything you do will, in fact, result in a usable bag.

It’s tuna time! (We’ve operantly conditioned them to come to the kitchen when we whistle. It’s how we get Hal (L) to come home when his outdoor adventure is going longer than our schedules allow.)
