God also knows when you use Godâs name in vain. And âin vainâ doesnât mean what this person probably thinks it means.

Ive also had success with this activity!
Every Wednesday I watch Survivor with John Carroll (season 4) in a bar in Omaha, and I am absolutely here for the live confessional I am about to witness.
The Center for Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience at WashU has an opening for a postdoctoral scholar! Deadline is May 1.

Right? If the alternative is âdonât do a No Kingsâ would that have been better? At least where I am, it laid the groundwork for the upcoming May 1 strike
And it gave them the confidence to challenge the local conservative incumbent state senator whoâs run unopposed as long as anyone can remember.
We (dem progressives) are finally acknowledging the importance of local elections and grassroots campaigning. Thatâs what these rallies really represent
We had MILLIONS of people at no kings events across the country whoâve now taken the small step of protesting in a âglorified paradeâ. But maybe now they are a little less scared for the actual march. Or maybe they attended a no kings event in their very rural red town where they are a minorityâŠ
My friend Hedy (www.stlamerican.com/news/local-n...) taught me to make myself useful however I can. When she and 8 others was arrested in Ferguson after Michael Brownâs murder, hundreds had marched to the governorâs office and thousands had been protesting w/o marching.
If these events were the be all end allâthen absolutely. But letâs reflect: the march on Washington (MLKâs famous 1963 âI have a dreamâ speech) had 250,000 people. Bloody Sunday
of 1965 (aka Selma to Montgomery) had about 600 people. do you have Selma w/o Washington?
đŻ the objectives are to bring people together and normalize resistance. Iâm in the quintessential âblue dot đ”â of Nebraska. Trust me, there are people here doing the hard work. But the âNo kingsâ provides important energy and entry into the infrastructure. It serves a purpose.
Yard sign I passed walking to work this morning that reads âJohn Cavanaugh for Congress. Stand up to Trump, defend the blue dotâ
If John Cavanaugh is elected to Congress, then MAGA republican Gov Pillan chooses Cavanaughâs replacement in the Nebraska state unicameral. That seems like an ineffective way to âdefend the đ”â especially when we have other great congressional options in (my pick) Denise Powell and Crystal Rhoades
Attakias Mertens presents âBrain mechanisms behind prospective thinking of socio-emotional scenarios during typical developmentâ
Owais Khan presents âDistinct sensorimotor cortical oscillatory signatures across youth with unilateral and bilateral Cerebral Palsyâ
Sara Momtaz presents âSpectral weighting functions for localization in simulated and chronic unilateral hearing lossâ
Lee Evans presents âNed likes sheds and Kate likes keys: early phonological judgment skills in DHH and TH childrenâ
The afternoon session of the 2026 BTNRH Post Doc Symposium was just as strong!
Dr Erica Lescht presents her talk âVisuospatial working memory skills in children who stutterâ
Dr Julia Nikolaeva presents âHidden in plain sight: Gender differences in the clinical presentation of developmental language disorder â
Dr Melissa Hazen presents âEffects of childhood vestibular loss on physical activity, gait, falls, and cognitionâ
Dr Devon Major presents âEffects of atypical auditory experiences on emotional and social communicationâ
Today is the 2026 BTNRH Post Doc Research Symposium! This morningâs speakers shared their research with translational impacts on how we best support children with atypical hearing or language. These scholars are shining examples of why NIHâs T32 training grants are so important.
IT guy #1 (about my work laptop): youâre running an IP config?
IT guy #2: oh, weâre deeper than that. *typity-type-clickity-clack* POINTS TO SCREEN
ITG #2: *eyes get big* domain not detected. No wonder she canât do anything
I donât know what any of this means but it seems bad.
I like Cavanaugh. In fact, Iâve voted for him twice. But he will still have two years remaining on his term in the unicameral, and Pillen would get to hand pick the replacement. So, since I voted for Cavanaugh to be my senator, Iâm going to do that; Iâll be supporting Denise Powell for congress.

One of our research SLPs is practicing a guest lecture on critically evaluating science (and pseudoscience) for a speech and hearing program. Looks like we are going to do an activity inspired by @lewan.bsky.social. Itâs fun to have my two worlds collide.
Is she connected to Women Who Run? Itâs a great resource in Omaha for help with postcard writing, canvassing, etc
I mentored a high school student who got published in the Journal for Emerging Investigators. After hours of navigating the platform, we hit âsubmitâ and her face drops, âI expected confetti. Like when I submitted my college applications.â

Cover of the book Escape by Stephan Fishbach. The background is a distorted, disturbing view through island greenery. A boom mic can be seen just entering the scene
Since you seem to like the Traitors, Stephan Fishbach of US Survivor just published this fictionalized account of a reality strategy game contestant. My copy of Escape came in the mail yesterday so no personal review. But Iâve heard that it is simultaneously quite realistic but quite unserious.
Protest sign that reads âKristi Noem is lyingâ
Omaha showed up for todayâs protest against the paramilitary occupation of Minneapolis and ICEâs executions of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Iâve been to dozens of protests at 72nd and Dodge. I have never seen this many protesters and this level of overwhelming support from passing cars.
A picture of Donald Trump at a lecture along with a quote from his speech: âI could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldnât lose voters.â âDonald Trump, January 23, 2016
Ten years ago, he told us what he expected from his supporters. His as he predicted, he has committed crimes and they still voted for him. He continues to lead members at every level of his administration in criminal acts. When will we hold him accountable?
(1) Iron iron iron (2) keep tension on your thread as you thread your machine or itâs likely to knot (aka nest). (3) Drawstring bags are a great starter project: Thereâs tons of YouTube tutorials; They donât require much fabric; pretty much anything you do will, in fact, result in a usable bag.
Four cats are lined up in the kitchen eating tuna. From left to right there is an orange and white long-hair, a tortie, a grey American short hair, and a grey part Maine coon.
Itâs tuna time! (Weâve operantly conditioned them to come to the kitchen when we whistle. Itâs how we get Hal (L) to come home when his outdoor adventure is going longer than our schedules allow.)
Would you show some love to Jess.Inthecities on instagram? After spending time on the seas, sheâs a chief leading coast guard recruitment in Minneapolis (with hopes of being transferred to Omaha/KC before retirement)
Labeling pictures with words supports short-term memory more than relying on prior procedural learning. Early implanted children benefit from verbal recoding as much as their typically hearing peers. https://on.asha.org/3LT7m96

Screenshot from KETV reads âOctober 18: Omaha, near 42 and William St. this Omaha yard haunted takes visitors through the horrors of one of William Shakespeareâs most famous pieces of work. The Scottish Graveyard features the three witches, who told Macbeth that he would be king, as well as the tombstones of those who were murdered.â It is accompanied by an image of a screaming witch lit with red lights.
My yard just made the local newsâ list of Halloween yard haunts. Can I add this to my CV?
