You're goddamn right it is!
Signed,
Me - a 40 year old mom who *loves* that game. π

Yay and congratulations to you π
We're big fans of Kabuto Park in this house - it's one of my kindergartener's favorites! βΊοΈ
Fortunately, her Tabby brother usually follows her and covers the poop for her.
Unfortunately, he usually gets litter all over his nose in the process and then immediately comes to me looking for snuggles. π€’
I cannot tell you the number of times I've screamed "You can't scoop the plastic, you little asshole" to our bratty little Tortie as she's done that exact same thing.
Blonde woman in glasses standing on front of a framed CTA map holding a can of Printers Row Brewery Jalapeno Blonde ale. She's wearing a shirt that says "FIBS for Wisconsin" on it.
I will use this as an excuse to post my "FIBS for Wisconsin" shirt, purchased from the great @harebrained.bsky.social right after the last Wisconsin Republican Supreme Court defeat.
Thank you Wisconsin. Thank you so much π
Yup...
I have a literal *life-saving box of fruit snacks* stashed under my bed for overnight lows.
It's so stupid and so scary at the same time.
As someone who basks in a similar daily glory from the "Lake Michigan Live " account, I will always encourage a soul to flock towards the Great Lakes. They are pretty damn magical.
Oh thank YOU for passing it along! It makes me so happy that all you lovely folks might have your day improved slightly by our story. π©΅
A drawing of several science fiction guns on a black background, including the cricket from Independence Day, the giant ass gun from District 9 and my absolute favorite - the pulse rifle from Aliens.
And for those who are curious - here's the image on that shirt. π₯°
And luckily, the super-sweet nerdy guy I spent most of the party talking to agreed enough to get my number at the end of the night.
Well...we'll be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this summer, and our kid turned 6 in January.
THANK YOU, dearly departed ThinkGeek. I owe you so much π©΅
I *do not* exaggerate when I say I owe my whole modern life to them. Years and years ago, I wore their "science fiction guns" shirt to a party - the first I attended after my first husband died. I was anxious about socializing, so I figured if nothing else it would make a fun conversation starter.
Ok, yes. Slay the Spire 2 is *very good, and may have just taken my attention for an hour after playing *only* RimWorld since October.
And I don't even (generally?) enjoy Roguelikes/Roguelites?
My in-laws live out in Elgin, so we drive by that building whenever we visit them. And I am very liberal and very petty, so I also chuckle evilly every time. π
The Dad who's kid was over yesterday was talking up the doughnuts at drop off this morning, so my parental ego continues to be fed. π
**Received Compliment: +3 Mood**
Umm... I'm pretty sure this is a major plot point in the Chuck Tingle novel "Bury Your Gays"?
Why do the people with all the money keep misunderstanding dystopian science fiction to be aspirational? π
A pile of small white cake doughnuts in a plastic container. They are decorated with a white glaze and rainbow sprinkles.
I know it's a bit silly, but I'm a teeny tiny bit proud that I was able to pivot during my son's playdate today and turn the box of cake mix into baked and glazed mini doughnuts instead of the cupcakes with store bought frosting as originally intended. Mom win (and personal ego boost)!
That gets an *enthusiastic* +1 from me.
I live on the Northwest side of the city and can see the goddamn rose water tower from the lunch room at my office. And my god, do I hate Rosemont...
Sounds (and looks) delicious!
Back in the day I was a big fan of the frozen California Pizza Kitchen Thai chicken - also a paragon of authenticity, I'm sure π - and that looks like it's much more adventurous and photogenic younger sibling.
Aw man, that's so sad. Feels like a reminder to pick up a 4 pack at my neighborhood brewery on the way home tomorrow - my dearly beloved Printer's Row Brewery here on the NW side. They've become such a pillar of the community, I would truly be crushed if they closed.
Black t shirt with white text that says "Social 0" with two fire emojis
I am extremely tempted to pick this one up to wear to the next Parents' Night at my kids school. It's honestly a pretty good representation of my own skills in that area, and if anyone recognized it I'd maybe have a new best friend π
I know - when I clicked through to their YouTube channel yesterday I was pretty heartbroken to only find 4 videos! π They are sooo good, I was hoping to find hundreds...
But yeah...I definitely had a big stupid smile spread across my face when I saw the "Animals: 19 π₯π₯" up at the end there. π
Maaan, seeing these archetypal RimWorld moments animated like this makes me sooo happy. My brain can't help but create similar little vignettes in my own head, but seeing them out there in real life (er, well on YouTube anyway) is so great. π
I haven't been on a vacation since before my kid was born (and they just turned six, yikes π¬)... so I've been definitely been putting my thumb on the scale for a train trip up there whenever we do *finally* get around to taking a trip.
Ooh, I should try that - or at least try putting together some rough drafts/outlines. I spend all day with their stories running around in my head, and there's not a person in the world who gives a damn other than me. π So that sounds like it could be a fun outlet/project!
Despite only playing for a few months, I've still put like 400 hours into it so far - it has its hooks in me like no other game I've played. So imagine my joy in seeing random RimWorld content pop up on my timeline! π
I'm sure if nothing else, it will vary based on the DLC's and difficulty level. I just started playing in October (I'm late to the party, I know π) and I keep mine pretty nerfed - and I've only played with Biotech and Ideology so far.
But I did get both a psychic animal pulser and psychic soothe pulser as random loot?
Most recently, I kept a couple cryptosleep caskets intact & moved my hospital into mine. I figured it might prove handy to put injured colonists in for safekeeping should all my regular hospital beds be occupied.
I've cracked into three of them so far, and mostly my experience has been similar to yours. One or two hostiles (either human slavers or mechs) and then 3-4 non-hostiles who would (mostly) join my colony.
This last time I only had a single non-hostile who didn't decide to stick around...
Oh, what a delight!
Your post was the first I'd heard about it - my day has instantly improved π
