The Twitter equivalent of the Instagram wellness influencers making views with posts filled with fake information are tech bros with a similar business model, threads of pseudo-intellectual drivel. Brivael is a prime example of that trend.

La conséquence de ces actes est une défiance croissante de la population envers les forces de l'ordre, mais ça ne semble pas troubler grand monde parmi les gouvernants.

The leader of the Israeli government is using typical far right myths about the holocaust, in public discourse.

Question : suppose that, in the future, another, saner US administration tries to renegotiate a treaty with Iran about either nukes or the Hormuz strait or both. What kind of credibility would they really have ?

To paraphrase a quote I read online a while ago : "taxes and infrastructure are how we take care of each others at scale".
Labeling taxes as theft instead of a social contract is one of the great victory of the GOP (though it came with a price : you can't unite a population of selfish people).

Yes, Trump is merely a symptom of a very sick people, who has been so for a long time.

Summary : in space, cosmic rays interact in fun ways with chips, and the denser they are the higher the effect is.

Next : ping times and the limit of the speed of light, and then failure rates and the law of large numbers.

Space-grade CPUs: How do you send more computing power into space? Figuring out radiation was a huge "turning point in the history of space electronics."

While some people (especially on Twitter) are busy arguing that heat dissipation works well in vacuum (forgetting that there are isotherm bottles using vacuum as insulation), this old article explains yet another of the problems with data center in space : arstechnica.com/science/2019...

Vous continuez d'être un embarras pour l'écologie 😔. Il est toujours évident que l'Allemagne émet bien plus de CO2 que nous, et vous n'arrivez toujours pas à comprendre ce problème.

The hypothesis that his advisors are barely more intelligent than him with his dementia should be seriously considered.

Question naïve : quel est l'utilité d'une optique 1x ?

Then you have to figure out ping times because of the distance (spoiler : you can't, it's physics), and protection against cosmic rays which interacts with dense electronics.

I'm really curious as to what will come out of this. Looks like a recipe for disaster.

It's not that you've got "no need for air conditioning", it's that you don't have air conditioning. Vacuum is actually a pretty good insulator. Then you also have to figure out maintenance, because in a large enough data center, hardware has to be replaced weekly or even daily.

I know about the environmental impact of lithium and rare earth mines. Coal and oil are even worse. Public transportation still helps tremendously in cities.

There is no single solution, it's a mosaic of small improvements.

No possibilities of widespread contamination if you bury them in a stable layer of rock. No spill possible either because they are encased in solid glass. Your view of nuclear waste seems to come from the Simpsons, reality is rather different.

Yes I know, but that number still applies to others. The fact is that the amount of "really bad" nuclear waste is still very small compared to what any other form of energy produces. Even more if you make a per-watt comparison, and it can be disposed of safely.

The real answer is increased public transportation, but on average, all costs combined, an electric car still pollutes much less than a gas-powered one. Extracting oil has a huge environmental impact as well, lithium is recyclable, power grids can be upgraded.

French guy here. Do you know the volume of nuclear waste that has to be buried an average French person produces in their entire life ? It's about the volume of a soda can. The total amount of nuclear waste ever produced by France that has to be buried is about the size of an Olympic swimming pool.

Leftist ? 😂 Estrosi is right-wing, so were his predecessors. Ciotti is just more extreme right wing.

Inner Space and your part in it are one of the cool memories of my teenage movie-going years ☺️. And it's so cool to see you back in ST:Academy ☺️.

Il est curieux que parler de sobriété fiscale soit un lieu commun, mais sobriété énergétique, non...

Is there anyone really surprised by this ? Trump has dementia, his whole team is made of idiots, what else could you expect ?
