DeformUK 🇷🇺 claims it represents British people, which is true if those British people went to private school and takes Russian bribes.
Let's make this Green Wave 🌊 a Green Tsunami 💚
#SocialistSunday
Being awake in pain in the small hours is normal for me, but last night it came with the upside of getting to see Hannah Spencer become the fifth Green Party MP and I couldn’t be happier. Her acceptance speech says it all. Join the @greenparty.org.uk for hope.

"I really want to encourage more people from backgrounds like mine to get into a system that has always shut us out."
Hannah Spencer MP: plumber, plasterer, parliamentarian
Charlie Stayt, "A lot of people think those leaflets are the nasty side of politics"
Zack Polanski, "Genocide is quite nasty"
This is absolute gold
Council elections are back on in Sussex, and together we can win big.
We have 3x as many members as we did in September, and we're absolutely surging in the polls. Let's get as many Greens elected as possible this May!
The rot runs right through this Labour government.
Starmer made Mandelson ambassador to the US despite knowing of his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. He must go.
Streeting must cancel the NHS contract with Palantir which has Mandelson's hands all over it.
We urgently need a parliamentary debate on Palantir. Please sign this & share with your network. Via @the-citizens.bsky.social & @change.org.

NEW: What’s happening in the US is TECHNOFASCISM.
It’s fascism + surveillance technologies. Palantir is playing a central role. And the UK is next in line.
My latest for @thenerve.news

This new graphic from @thenerve.news could be so much bigger but we wanted to show 3 essential nodes in Peter Thiel’s sphere of influence: Silicon Valley, Washington & the UK.
In Britain, our govt is so naive about Thiel & what his company Palantir really is.

NEW: Trump's coup is almost complete. And the attack on the press is a central piece of it. Bezos's gutting of the Washington Post cannot be allowed to be just another blip in the news cycle.
We are all going to have to fight for a free and independent press.

Very statesman like from @ZackPolanski 👍
Good to see a LP MP Barry Gardiner not trying to play party politics, so rare from the LP.

They were perfectly happy to take the money in the first place. I say pay up or go to prison. #CovidFraud

An excellent article from @k8lister.bsky.social. I agree, the wealthy need to be less Scrooge like.

It's funny because I was telling my students in my Disability & Ethics class last week about the DWP constantly reassessing people with missing limbs and Down syndrome to see if they've been cured yet to much horrified gasping from the students...
DWP claims that “an issue” with data is preventing it releasing figures of many disabled people have been affected by cuts to the Access to Work disability employment prog. Campaigners say this is “a major warning sign” & “deepens their concern that something is being hidden”.

We’re not allowed to be disabled AND have any sort of life. Just like we shouldn’t need to be out after dark either.
Twenty years ago I left the U.K. for some of the same reasons. I eventually returned because family is here. We can’t do much about the weather but the #costofliving for so many of us continues to spiral. #emigration

Every delicious word from the indomitable @captmarkkelly.bsky.social is spot on. He’s certainly got Trump seriously rattled. Only a president who lies would be so scared of the truth.
This is what happens when you have the least qualified Secretary of Defense in our country’s history.
Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are not serious people. I won't let them stop me from holding this Administration accountable.
No one will stop me from defending our freedoms.
Since Zack became high profile in the Green Party and then won the leadership vote it’s been lovely to have that feeling of hope again. We knew we needed the Tories out & I don’t think any of us really thought Labour would screw us over so spectacularly. But here we are & for me the future is Green.
Hope is here.

Feeling your pain. Every new Apple device has been a delight until this week with my new iPhone. Will it allow me to use iMessage? Absolutely not. It won’t work on my iPad now either. Feel like going back to my old phone.
Anyone below or hovering around the poverty line who rents privately urgently needs #LHA to be unfrozen but it wasn’t mentioned today. A huge disappointment when so many already have a rent gap to cover. I can only surmise they intend to leave it frozen for another year.
Image from OBR's Budget docuoment: "Our economy forecast now incorporates the net effect of the changes to universal credit (UC) policies which remain in force following the policy changes made in July. We estimate these will add around 15,000 average hours equivalent (AHE) to labour supply in 2029-30. This reflects the net effect of: (1) the increase in the generosity of the UC standard allowance, which is expected to reduce recipients’ financial incentive to enter or remain in employment, leading to an estimated 11,000 AHE reduction to labour supply; and (2) the reductions in the generosity of and eligibility for health-related benefits in UC, which are expected to lower income for new claimants, increasing work incentives, and resulting in an estimated 26,000 AHE increase in labour supply. We have also assessed the new employment support programme announced in the Green Paper. Based on evidence from similar past schemes, combined with the Department for Work and Pensions’ range of estimates of the numbers of individuals that could be provided with support, we estimate that the programme could support 20,000 to 40,000 inactive claimants"
Today the OBR finally published employment impacts of Govt’s (remaining) disability benefit cuts, which weren’t ready in the spring. Confirms @jrf-uk.bsky.social analysis at the time that these huge cuts to disabled people’s incomes come with relatively few expected to move into work. 🧵1/3
