Google Starts Scanning All Your Photos As New Update Goes Live Google wants its AI to see all the photos of "you and your loved ones." Billions of users must now decide.

“Take a moment to think before you dive in. That’s the best advice for Google Photos users, as the company confirms its latest update can scan all your photos to “use actual images of you and your loved ones” in AI image generation.”

The desperate campaign to push AI down our throats is just what Nestlé did with baby formula, or Monsanto with patended seeds.

Manufactured Intermediation—inserting a corporate tollbooth into a process that used to be self-sustaining, using a low initial barrier to entry to destroy the alternative.

BAFTA pulling a trailer for an autobiographical game about surviving sexual assault only hours before it was said to be a part of a showcase is an exceptionally bad look.

Think of how many games where the verb is violence. How many games (including the ones nominated for tonight’s BAFTA awards) where you shoot, fight, kill.
But when games want to explore the topic of violence in a meaningful way, that’s the issue?

They're only interested in watching bot accounts make that cute little heart icon under their Tweets get a higher number next to it.

Healthcare is a right.

You shouldn’t have to earn it.

It shouldn’t be dependent on employment or economic status.

It shouldn’t be something you have to fight for.

It shouldn’t be something that leaves you in debt for life.

Universal healthcare saves lives.

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.

In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."

Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!

AFTER much research I recently discovered that at 48, I am the same age now as Nelson
Mandela was when he was my age. Similarly, Prince Harry, 32, is the same age now as I was when I was his age. I wonder, do any of your other readers have age-based celebrity links?

Instead epople activelly look for the blandiest possible version chasing some illusory mas appeal.

Not a new problem. Just think about ICO´s box arts.

The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they're the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive-because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority.
Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about "Western civilization," while armed brutes try to tear it down by force.

The title is in white with D and E mirrored and the lowercase u and n flipped. Why generative AI doesn’t belong in crafting/handmade spaces

We’re going to use a plot point in Schitt’s Creek for this example... You may be familiar with it!

Why generative AI doesn’t belong in crafting/handmade spaces

Later in the television series Schitt’s Creek (S5 Ep10), main character David Rose decides to open an apothecary called “Rose Apothecary.”

(Photo of David Rose)

He hand curates and selects handmade, high quality items made by small business owners he knows he can trust.

It is an adorable addition to an otherwise run-down town, and it does well! High quality, handmade items sell at a premium

Why generative AI doesn’t belong in crafting/handmade spaces

During a local small business event in town in which he is representing Rose Apothecary, he notices a former business partner who has set up a table not far from him.

(Photo of David and Stevie at the event)

She and her business partner, who looks suspiciously like David himself, are selling “hand curated, hand made” lotions, creams, etc, just like Rose Apothecary.

(Photo of Antonio and Wendy at the event)

However, they are selling them much, much cheaper, undercutting David. It later turns out that they are purchasing cheap manufactured goods and relabeling them to make them seem hand crafted/small batch.

Why generative AI doesn’t belong in crafting/handmade spaces

This is exactly what generative AI, whether used in whole or part does when placed in a handmade space.

It devalues artisans who have spent a lot of time, money, and effort making something good by creating a “rip-off” product that sells for cheaper.

Even if you are “only” using generative AI for labels or logos, even having just that reduces trust in all of the vendors around you for anyone who has a keen eye to AI generated assets. This destabilizes trust in the entire collective of artisans, because if one vendor is getting away with using gen AI, then who else is?

Watching the Brazilian show about a radioactive disaster and having seen Chernobyl a couple times OH MY FUCKING-

Yeah, plenty of drama and horror abound. Though thankfully also humanizing people and making it clear it all starts and gets worse because poverty, bigotry, and colonialism.
