Cancer update: Saw the surgeon today. Doctor was happy I followed orders to remain active, but said she realized she forgot to tell me not to raise my left arm. I needed stitches where the surgical glue gave way.

I've spent way too much time listening to these messages this year. No one warned me that cancer would be equal parts pain and boredom.

Second mastectomy is tomorrow. Hope it goes well.

Sometimes it's the tiny moments that surprise me with pain. I edited my daily task list. I started it years ago to help me remember the things I needed to do for self care. It also reminded me to give Jamie his medication. Deleting hurt.

Last night, when I found myself alone in bed, of course, I started crying. Then I heard a beautiful chirping noise as Ziggy bounded onto the bed and snuggled. He sounded like he was saying, "I'm coming Mama!" He snuggled on top of me and stayed on top of me until I fell asleep.

Thursday, after the radiation consult, Ashley took me to Sees Candy for "grief chocolate."

My darling sweet kitty, my beloved Jamie, has died. He passed while lying in his favorite place, my lap. He was surrounded by family and love. This weekend will take him to burry him among the bones of our other deceased feline family, including his sister and brother. What is remembered lives.

Cancer Update: The surgery in Nov found all lymph nodes in the right armpit were cancerous. We need to be extra sure it hasn't spread. I'm starting a new kind of chemo this week, as well as radiation treatment. Just finished a CT scan of my body. Next will be a full body bone scan.
