Pros: Star Fox 64 is way better than I remember, going for medals is so much fun and the levels are usually so well built around it. Actually rocketing up my favorites list. Area 6 makes me feel alive again.

Cons: I cannot feel my wrist after learning Aquas.

... is 2nd not just losing in the case of the FGC?

Does anyone have any advice to stop coming in 2nd in every single competitive game I ever play?

Asking for a friend.

That’s ok I appreciate the hell out of you and your dive attack that you spam is fully invincible so I can’t stop you from the fate of liking Terranigma’s gameplay.

Class is in session! 🗣️

With the uptick in interest for Star Fox, I've taken the basics of its lore and compiled it into an easy-to-digest summary that takes less than 15 minutes of your time!

For newbies who don't mind spoilers!

You're totally right to think so. However, they're having a conversation on whether or not to bring Slippy back onto the Star Fox team at this point, and this is the line directly preceding Falco's.

Personally, I prefer the fellas. - Falco probably idk

FALCO YOU CAN'T... I mean I guess it's 2006 so it makes sense that you'd say that, but that's an INSANE line to have Falco Lombardi drop.

But it's very easy, come on in. She should take a chance and shake a fin.

13 Sentinels is SUCH a good pull for "hear me out". Practically one that requires you to say that!

Yeah I'll step up to bat a bit late. Limited myself to one per series, or else uh, there's a lot more DK to be shared around.

I also don't care for "overhated" or "underrated" and whatnot; I already know my opinions are weird, so I just swapped those out for categories I thought were neater!

This might very well be the most successful "video game" movie I've seen at portraying a video game. It is filled with an absolute love for Mario and everyone clearly put a ton of effort getting their favorites in. But it lacks the player investment unless you've been there and imagined it before.

But there's... very little in the movie that builds upon that. There are new locales, some new character motivations and revelations unique to the movie's universe compared to the games, but ultimately little is done with it other than to serve to compliment the "gameplay" of the action scenes.

It's almost as if the action language of the film is its "gameplay", where it goes from setpiece to setpiece to wow and energize, and with how much Miyamoto is credited in so many roles, I do not doubt this was the philosophy going into the film. Every shot feels like how a Mario setpiece is built.

The star of this film is its camera. Illumination has made some INCREDIBLE scenic Mario locales and shows them off in loving detail. They're loaded with a bunch of incredibly well-animated Mario characters, and whenever it changes gravity and the camera moves with it, it's genuinely breathtaking.

Got back from the Mario Galaxy movie and it's... a very interesting feeling I'm feeling. I'll keep it spoiler-free and just go off vibes.

This feels like a fan film with infinite budget and limited time, and I mean that in the most complimentary and derogatory ways. I had fun, but just a bit.

Even when the excitement’s gone and the story’s over, look at what you made. That quiet contentment at the end, that stability you never thought you’d have, is worth the lifetime you put in.

Thank Hylia for the New Day.

I'm not a big Zelda guy. But something about the structure of Majora's Mask and how it ties into its villain - literally a corrupted facsimile of a heart - enraptures me. I tackled every bit of lore and angle I could take to dissect what makes Majora work, check it out!

I'd say that for inspirations, definitely. The character himself, I'm not entirely sure as his most notable appearance would be... honestly a debate between Call of Cthulhu and Scribblenauts, which is weird to say!

Hard for me to think of a classic literary character who's done more in the medium. MAYBE Gilgamesh, but you have to reeeaaaally stretch what you mean by "Gilgamesh".

Bond is so funny because it’s true only if you shout BUT ONLY BROSNAN at the end. Hell I could see the argument for “bond and oddjob and no one else”

Yeah I really like the bouncy car in 3 and think that the rushed mess of a plot is complimented by the more tongue in cheek writing tone, whilst Jak 1 is competent but not exceptional to me in all it does.

3 > 1 > 2 pretty easy for me, though take it with a grain of salt as I’m not super hot on any

In influence, absolutely. But god what I wouldn’t do for a Popeye game that’s at least mediocre. If he could just clear that low bar, my heart would be at peace.
