Not sure why pic came out sideways, but yes, indeed. Had family visiting, so of course when they wanted to see the wall it had to be Juyongguan (since there is actually something to look at up close!)

When I was in Lhasa in Spring 1985 I witnessed a sky burial. Below are a selection of photographs I took (with permission, and only after the vultures had been summoned) using poor quality Chinese film after finishing my supply of Fujifilm.

Despite the occasional Bao'an shouting 'BE AWARE OF FALLING TREES' (there weren't any), we were left to enjoy our lunch uninterrupted and the park was pretty empty...

Despite Beijing's 'extreme weather' warning on Saturday we had a fun picnic at the Ming Dynasty Cishou Temple pagoda 慈寿寺塔.

Wanli period (1576) pagoda which is quite a faithful replica of the much earlier Liao style...
