One joke I get often is if I misunderstood or didn’t hear properly what someone was saying and I ask for them to repeat, they will say “the adhd is showing”
Or “how very adhd of you”

8 months ago 0 0 2 0

So true. I need to learn scripts on how to respond when the joke is offensive so I can right away debunk the joke.

9 months ago 1 0 1 0

Could you give me an example of what you say?

Let’s say someone made a joke that offended you.

9 months ago 1 0 1 0

The RSD is so real. Laughing it off and internalizing it is my way to go as well 😣

I need people to give me real scripts on how to respond without sounding defensive.

My video today will feature the biggest achievement in the 18-year history of vlogbrothers, and I'm pretty psyched to share it with you.

p.s. Vlogbrothers is now older than about 30% of its viewers.

Now digital drawing has ruined my physical drawing because I can’t tap twice to erase or zoom in on a detail by punching the paper 🫠

Physical books are for decoration, ereaders + pop sockets and audiobooks are for actually reading. 😌

6. PROBLEM SOLVING
Seeing things from different points of view, since we struggle in a neurotypical world we are masters are coming up with neurodivergent ways to approach problems!
Thanks to @LoreleiMathias

Can I pls add PROBLEM-SOLVING? We come at things from amazing angles! The other day I was running out the door to get a train, and saw a hole in my black tights. I grabbed a marker pen, filled in the hole. Problem solved! (So long as I didn't move my leg too much).

7. Fast learner
I have taught myself how to do calligraphy, crochet, watercolour painting, cook, bake, if there's a video on YouTube I'll master it by
noon.
Now, keeping up the gig? That's another story

8. Super Recognizer
Most ADHDers have face blindness, well, that changed for me since one of my
"hobbies" is collecting people's faces ® I can recognize people just by looking at their
eyes.
I see you 1 time, that's all it took.
ADHD hyper-focusing, people pleasing

9. Great sense of Humor
I will find the funny in anything. My motivation to find dopamine in life has allowed me to develop a kin eye for the funny.
Sometimes on the edge of inappropriate, like 1st Aid, I'll jump at the opportunity to hit a punch line everytime.

3. First Responder
I actually take the First Aid course every 2 years, if only to add credit to the fact that I WILL 100% jump at an emergency situation. Calm, and collected.

I know what you're thinking, what? But how? Impossible?
And hear me out, bring me to your home and I'll organize the heck out of your house.
I won't be able to be consistent at “ keeping it “organized

5. Storytelling
My mind races faster than I can speak, but I usually only catch up with what I'm saying a second after it came out of my mouth.
I can hold several ideas and thoughts at once in my head. More often than not, I'll surprise myself with my own insight

Things I'm good at, that now I know are because of ADHD. #adhdawareness
1. I can find ANYTHING
You lost a ring? I'll find it.
Misplaced something? I'll find it. Waldo?
Everytime. A person in Facebook? Give me a min.

I used to focus on the awful part of #ADHD , this one time someone asked me what was the “good” part of it, and it made me reflect on what’s positive side. I don’t consider it a “superpower” but I’ve come to embrace it as a part of who I am. Here is a list I made back in 2022. #neurodivergent

Can we talk about how tiring it is to have ADHD?

We're constantly spending SO MUCH energy pulling our train of thought back onto the tracks, desperately trying to get the ball rolling on even things we want to do, repeatedly pulling ourselves away from impulses, etc.

On Forgetting Mid-Sentence
🧠 Ever stop mid-thought and just blank?
😳 Then spiral into quiet shame?
🫥 ADHD chips away at confidence, not smarts.
🤍 You’re not broken—just wired fast.

📨 How do you hold space for that?
