These stories show why strong local capacity stops threats at their source. Colleagues will also cover hemorrhagic fevers, updates on measles in Texas & other timely issues—clear reminders that bugs cross borders faster than we do. #APHL #GlobalHealth #GenomicSurveillance

I’ll highlight the APHL Global Health Team’s work in Thailand & Vietnam:
🔹 A regional genomics hub in Thailand that trains, mentors & links labs across SE Asia.
🔹 A hospital-based model in Vietnam that embeds sequencing in routine care for real-time action.
🧭 Pathogen genomics isn’t just for the next pandemic—it’s everyday public-health infrastructure. Next week at #APHL2025 I’ll speak at the session “Thinking About Emerging Infectious Diseases Through a Global Health Lens.” www.aphl.org/conferences/...
We are STILL hiring! Please note: At this time, we are only considering candidates who are legally authorized to work in Thailand.

During this transitional period, I'm focusing on personal reflection and reconnecting with family and well-being. I'm also open to both long- and short-term opportunities where my skill sets, expertise, and experience can help improve health at any scale.
Thank you for your support.

I'm sharing this update with a heavy heart. Due to a pause in foreign aid funding resulting from an executive order, my contract with @aphl.org —supporting the development of infectious disease genomic surveillance and advanced molecular detection across Southeast Asia—has been terminated.
Speaking from a global public health point of view, this is a really really bad time for all of this to be happening all at once.
I miss it so much. A road trip staple.
My paper, "Identification of Tecovirimat Resistance-Associated Mutations in Human Monkeypox Virus - Los Angeles County", was featured as an @ASMicrobiology highly cited article in 2024!

Now that @aphl.org is on BlueSky, I’ll have to tag my awesome organization that gave me the opportunity to do all this important work!
Vietnam: Working with CDC to establish genomic surveillance at Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi, leveraging existing flu surveillance to detect and respond to outbreaks.
Thailand: Working with CDC to expand Training Center for Excellence in Medical Sciences (TEMs), enhancing training resources for SEA.
Honored to contribute to global health security through my work at APHL! Proud to be involved in two projects featured in the 2024 WH GHSS Report: www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/u...
Creating a safer world for everyone!

I've been supporting the CDC to expand genomic surveillance capacity in Vietnam for 18 months now and never realized that my face made an appearance on the web page for the CDC's Division of Global Health Protection! So honored to represent APHL and be part of this exciting project. lnkd.in/gmC9KaXC
Welcome to the light.
Hi #ClinMicro folks. Does anyone know of a #starterpack for our peeps? I've got most of the ID Docs and some microbiologists but I wanted to connect with some of us clinical and public health micro who just relocated. Thanks!
Children’s hospitals seem to always go all out for Christmas decorations.
