Happy 80th Birthday to the legendary Tim Curry! 🖤

Disney has exactly two franchises that are made for endless sequels, and they've squandered them both. The first, Fantasia, because they're too cowardly to create real art. The second, The Rescuers, because they're too cowardly to go back to their roots and tell tales about child abuse.

Devastated to hear the entire Marvel Studios’s Visual Development team has been let go. This was my old home but more importantly, the home of so many incredible artists and peers.
Absolutely heartbreaking 😔
Sending all my impacted peers my love and support. Please reach out if you need anything!
I'm here at MALCon until 5:30! Come see me and a bunch of other awesome artists and creators, have fun with all the panels and workshops, win some prizes, and check out some books at Milton Library!
This may be a fundamentally new kind of sin blending blasphemy, idolatry, divination, and simony, among others. Those who are not horrified at this may be entirely lacking in authentic religious awareness and feeling.
I think a lot of people here are way underestimating how difficult it is to break a sexual abuse story *even when everybody kind of knows it* unless you can get victims on record. it is very, very hard.
In my observation, we are reaching the negative limit of productive social interaction where one can have a valid opinion without it also being an informed opinion.
Beautiful day to fill the 100,000th pothole of the year.
I would watch a 45 minute cut of this like people watch those power washing videos
I have a job + side projects that require me to write 20+ pages of scripts, outlines, and ideas every single day, and I have never used AI in my life.
Because I know how to write GOOD stuff, I don’t need bland boring dictionary vomit
And furthermore, to build on this and what it is quoting:
If you can’t be bothered to write your own words or draw your own art, then why should I be bothered to read your regurgitated, processed slop that you had no hand in creating?
If you use AI, you are mid and useless as a creator by default
You don't have to be an artist to critique art. But you should try it (and try it THOROUGHLY) at least once before you knock it.
We are getting to a point where disinterest in media is blamed on a lack of quality blamed on a lack of care, because the person saying so doesn't understand enough about the process or environment to know why those choices were made.
5. Business:
Y'all know that, even if you don't care about profit, the tools used to make art cost money? And that the time spent making art is time lost not being at a job that pays for food?
Y'all need to learn that unpopular decisions for consumers exist to keep making art consumers enjoy.
4. Acting:
Putting yourself in the shoes of a character will teach you empathy, and not just why characters make seemingly irrational choices, but also teach you to empathize with decisions that neither beneficial/logical to you, but beneficial/logical to the people who make your art.
3. Comics/Storyboarding
Too many of you need it spoken in dialogue what a picture means, instead of following focal points, compositional shapes, and reading direction.
Taking a comics/storyboarding class will teach you how to appreciate how a scene is set up before the first word is even uttered.
2. Foreign Film Studies:
Joseph Campbell is not the end-all, be-all of storytelling, Not everything has to adhere to the 3-act structure,
And please consume more media than just the mainstream, because y'all desperately need perspective!
1. Animation:
WAY TOO MANY of you do NOT understand how animation is made, and how clever TEAMS of Animators have to be to make anything in a timely manner.
WAY TOO MANY of you think it's either:
- Toddlers scribbling with crayon (2D)
- basement dwellers hitting a button (3D)
Film critics should take these classes:
1. Animation (2D or 3D)
2. Foreign Film Studies
3. Comics/Storyboarding
4. Acting
5. Business
Hot take:
To be a professional commentator, you need to, at least once, try to make the thing you are commenting on. We're reaching a point where discussion isn't born from difference in opinion, but too much ignorance to have a fully formed opinion on any topic.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012)
Season 1, Episode 4
When people say "Support Indie", its especially important in times like these that you do something that supports a smaller, upcoming artist, not a billionaire grasping for relevance so she can destroy an entire group of people.
Your money and attention should be in support of something better.
So for the last two years I've been working on an instrumental hip hop album project, and it's finally done! It's now out on:

TRANSCRIPT OF CARTOON This cartoon has for panels, showing two women talking as they walk through a hilly park. The woman in front has dark hair and is wearing a red t-shirt; the person in the rear has light brown hair and is wearing floral pants. I'll call them TSHIRT and FLORAL. PANEL 1 Tshirt is listening as Floral lectures. FLORAL: Of course teachers should be legally required to "out" trans kids to their parents. Because of parents' rights. PANEL 2 FLORAL: It doesn't matter if it's outing trans kids, or vaccinations, or what books teachers are allowed to assign. It should always be up to the parents! PANEL 3 Close-up on Flora, who is pounding a fist into her palm, very intense. FLORAL: Parents' rights are sacrosanct! Period! PANEL 4 Tshirt turns to ask Floral a question; Floral replies cheerily. TSHIRT: What if parents want their trans kid to have gender affirming care? FLORAL: Fuck parents' rights.

Hi all I'm still looking, if anyone in animation has a crew that needs some help please lmk...could really use the help rn, money is tight...Thank you all 😖🙏💦
purple. drew this one and then like two days later interviewed someone that had the exact same hair.
*Specific wording because some digital mediums (3D comes to mind) are complicated by necessity.
But Adobe Flash/Animate had this down 30 yrs ago. So does base Procreate, and other iPad Apps (*coughs in ToonSquid).
So it is doable, and the skill ceiling does not justify the skill floor.
Hot take (looking at Blender Grease Pencil and Procreate Dreams tutorials on YouTube):
"If your 2D animation functionality software has a skill floor so high there is a cottage industry dedicated to onboarding new users, maybe it's not very good as a 2D animation software."
okay so AI is absolutely cratering imminently and I need all of you to PROMISE me you won't take the high road, and will laugh and rub it in their faces as much as possible. I need you to laugh and go 'WE TOLD YOU SO, BITCH" at every opportunity, PLEASE be extremely mean and ruthless
