Oh Laura I'm so glad to hear this, and really thrilled you enjoyed it. Ha, yes, the final third in particular is quite the plot ride! Thank you for letting me know

#jobsinpublishing alert! We're looking for an editorial assistant to work across fiction and non-fiction. You'll be reporting to me and Tig Wallace but working with all the amazing editors at Sphere - I may be biased but I think we're the nicest team in the business, and our books are *chef's kiss*

Publishers, agents, booksellers. I have the most beautiful #proofs of a gorgeous historical novel coming in February. Quite a few people have said some very nice things. If you would like one please let me know.

A little plea from a publisher: please don't sell uncorrected proofs on for a profit. They are circulated for review with trust. Though it might not feel like a big deal, it's actually piracy because the author gets nothing for the sale.

Oh Laura I'm so pleased to hear that. It's such a gorgeous read isn't it? I'm excited to hear how you get on, particularly when you get to the final third. It gets so tense at that point I couldn't put it down!

Dive into the best novels to give this Christmas Our critics have picked their favourite books of the year and reviewed them all for you in our Christmas Fiction round up.

Also horray for Joanne Burn, whose The Bone Hunters is one of just three historical novels selected by the Daily Mail for their books of the year. I get to work with such talented authors!

More techo bro disrupters, that's what the world needs! It sounds worrying, but I doubt many people will want to pay Β£5K to have a robot publish their book. I don't think they understand that most writers need/want a human connection with their work.

The Winter Spirits is a Blackwell’s book of the month and it is looking VERY SHINY. I’m so happy to have a story in this collection. I did not sail to a deserted island in the fog and risk being eaten by wild sheep for nought!

Thank you David. And on a separate note, that is a fabulous jumper.

Spectacularly late to the party as always, but I have finally left the hellscape, and am looking for some bookish friends here.
