Happy new year bsky. Even after my last post i haven't written anything else, but i'm busy with moving and stuff. I'll start soon enough, i hope.

When i read this i read "Another example of the unsustainable system we live in is the fault of people that don't engage in it because that system fucked them over" lol
Been a while since i've posted on this account, i've taken some time to finally find a definitive method to write and find a system that truly fit what i want to do, the solo creation wasn't working out.
I'll start using this account again as sort of a dev journal x)
Ooh i'm gonna get you, too - eventually
I want my ocs drawn in graffiti style i want neon colors i want accessories over accessories i want to play dress-up with every single one of them i'm losing my mind @@
How popular are solo player TTRPGs? I've bought a couple and tried one, it was very fun. Lately i'm finding out that there are A LOT but it's something i learned about only recently. If anyone reading this plays them, would you tell me something about the experience?
Rules are almost done, down to conflict resolution and then adjustments and all. Will they be good? Will they be bad? Only playtesting will tell.
I can't wait to go back to writing about the setting again.
Thank you everyone for the likes and reposts. Follow me if you're interested in the project or to wait for the next commission, I intend to introduce more characters in the future!
The people who actually believe this is fine should be studied in a lab. Why why WHY would you want a machine to speak on behalf of another person in a CREATIVE ENDEAVOR. Do people in the AI industry think that ANYTHING about people can't be replaced? Their company? Their humor? THEIR WARMTH?
fuck this FUUUUCK THIS fuck that corpo and fuck eeeeverything
Don't believe I have, no. But it could be fun instead of weird sometimes I think
One I had to stop myself from is information retention. The fear that the players may learn too much too fast. I did a couple sessions where they left frustrated because they felt like they learned nothing.
One I don't do but was "victim" of is masters already writing the resolution in the prep.
I've already talked about Haewon, and i don't know if this will be her final design, but i love her so much here πlet me share some concepts as well
An energetic Corgi and a Sporty Bunny
Let me introduce you to Maya and Haewon!
Maya is a Corgi and a paranormal detective who has her own show. Friend of all, but don't try and diminsh her in any way or she'll literally eat your face whole!
Art by the lovely @crimmy10.bsky.social, such a great person to work with. Thank you!
- finally, his Network of friends, that will influence the first two. Making friends is important in Numens, vital even. The characters will want to hang out with some characters more than others, in the end, and they will eventually influence him a bit
- Attitudes that describe how the character approaches situations
- Vibes that are a mix of what the character does, what job he has, which hobbies he enjoys, what his friends tell about him
- Some Abilities, 'cause i love me some abilities. They should be some extra skills,
and
Finally, after days of elucubration i think i've found the pillars of my game. I have been stuck for days trying to make shit work, but that shit was kinda shit, but now i'll stick with these. Every character should and will have:
On one side, i want them to grow naturally with player interaction. On the other, i want them to be structured in such a way that more mechanics-oriented players don't have to struggle excessively and stay behind others that may be more outgoing.
Reading Thirsty Sword Lesbians right now and i have to say it's incredible. The Strings and the Moves sound so much fun, and i really want to play it, eventually.
Still haven't figured out my own relationship mechanics and if they should be more narrative or mechanics oriented -
From what i've seen from many campaigns, players tend to grow fond of NPCs that you never thought much of. In a setting that's mostly in a single city district you end up with a solid recurrent cast so i want to encourage this dynamic. Fostering a relationship with npcs should both help AND be fun
No progress today, but yesterday i finally figured out the purpose of "friends" - in Numens.
Relationships will be a key component of the game, both with other players and NPCs, so i want to give them both a use in influencing dice rolls and in roleplaying.
It's Easter so i'll share her again!
Her name is Haewon Pyon, and she's an athletic bunny that can be seen jumping from roof to roof, but people often only manage to catch sight of her long-ass ears flapping around the corner, and that's why people call her Ribbons.
(This design is not final!)
So i'm trying for this instead: i'll either give freedom to name your skills, but i'll give guidelines on what those names will be, or i will give an actual list, but i'll leave it open to add and subtract depending on need like in FATE. I think it will work best for Numens
On the opposide side of the spectrum you have The Burning Wheel's 200 specific skills that have a single use that may or may not appear in a campagin, which could be a lot of fun in the right setting, but it doesn't really work for what i'm trying to set as a vibe-
Working on Skills and i'm noticing how hard it could be to have a comprehensive list that covers all possible facets of what a character could do. Absolute freedom creates situations like "Billy has "sports" but i have "climbing", i should get a more generic one to cover more situations" -
So i've Heard. I've been more into narrative systems lately but I think I would've loved it years ago.
Although now that I think about it am I really over it since I made something similar by creating from scratch? I'm a sucker for attributes + skills what can I say.
Stumbling between dice and tumbling towards something similar to Shadowrun without even knowing. Cool system, reading it now, but i'm trying to keep mine more high octane.
I did play Shadowrun Returns, some years ago, but i don't remember much about it except the fact that i liked it.
To think that i never really wanted to do much number crunching while making this RPG, and now i'm trying to create an entire new system. How the turntables roundabout.
π₯π₯π Cooking in progress!
