"Every chance you get, please replace the words 'carnivore' or 'carnist' or 'carnism' with the word speciesist and speciesism and tell others what you know about it and how wrong it is." - Go Vegan World

It is such a privilege to work on a vegan sanctuary and see rescued hens living life on their own terms and getting such pleasure from the sociable act of dustbathing together.

The cows at Eden Farmed Animal Sanctuary Ireland love to see Jack and Agatha.
Caroline was delighted with the ivy Ronnie picked for her. Caroline was rescued from a slaughterhouse in 2019. Although she has arthritis, her medication means she can enjoy her life and she is able to graze adequate and wander in and out of her barn as she chooses.

Frankie is a very different sheep now to the little lamb who came to us with hours left to live. It is fantastic to see her enjoying herself, although she is probably a nuisance to the adults who have little interest in playing chase.
How we take care of Merlin at Eden Farmed Animal Sanctuary.
We called her Mamou (meaning mother) when she gave birth unexpectedly very soon after rescue. Mother’s Day seems an appropriate time to celebrate the life she lost on 13th March 2026.

We are doing something of a trip down memory lane this week. This is an article that was published about the campaign soon after it launched in 2015.

In 2016 Go Vegan World expanded the campaign to the UK and Go Vegan Ireland became Go Vegan World.
Some of the radio interviews from the early years of the Go Vegan World campaign (2015 and 2016) are still available. We hope that our campaign has improved over the years so that non-vegan members of the public have access to information about animal rights.

Amy is the tiniest hen in her group but she has the biggest, bossiest personality. She makes sure she has first access to food, the nicest dust bath, and she sleeps in the rafters watching the other hens on their perch below.

The ducks and geese were absolutely delighted to get back to their ponds when the avian flu restrictions were lifted.

Holly is almost blind and has epilepsy and has recently had a series of infections. It's a worry when those we are so close to, get closer to the end of their life. But at a vegan sanctuary it is as close to the natural end of their life as possible unlike farms where they are slaughtered.

Barry survived without food for months until someone found him. He's safe at Eden now, living life as he chooses.
Dylan, Banjo and Leonard are three of our youngest flock. Banjo featured in hundreds of ads throughout Ireland and the UK in our Go Vegan World New Year campaign reminding people that the animals we use are not inanimate objects or resources. They are feeling beings with minds and rights.
