Setting up a proper negotiating framework & timeframe would do Trump a favour.
(1) Long negotiation delays would punt an unpopular war into the long grass, without loss of face on the books.
(2) While talks happen offstage & oil prices drop, US voters' may well memory-hole the war for the midterms.

Restoration in action, 3 days after the election. How quickly will the next US administration act to reverse MAGA corruption, illegality, and insidious influence operations? Not to mention claw back the proceeds of non-arms-length transactions that benefited the Trump family and their donors.
