Good, fast work by them if it was only found yesterday.

That's not just an LLM then, it takes some effort to upload stuff to zenodo (which is a legit data repository).

Never heard of the "journal" but does the zenodo link exist? If so, will they take it down?

Best to get used early to the idea that your kids beat you at stuff. Then when they come home from school and lecture you about some newly-fashionable topic it's less of a shock.

Oh no they've done the numbering manually. I should have put more effort into making my coauthors learn LaTeX. 😭

3 headings in a word document. The first and third are numbered. The second is not.

And meanwhile getting headings right in a template is still really hard (I dunno what the template writer has done here, but some new headings are numbered and some are not)

Whilst we're at it, Grammar Checker can eff off as well (yes I know where, and have turned it off before). Useful to check as a review step. Hideously distracting *whilst typing*. No wonder people need AI to write for them, it's impossible to *think* any more.

So so so much this.

I was on this too, talking about coastal forecasting, also @hancloke.bsky.social on river engineering & Nicoletta Leonardi on coastal inundation modelling 👇

Nice interview, just a bit of a shame the format didn't allow us to interact with each other, just separate interviews.

Long after finishing my first degree I read the booklet we were given at the start with study advice. There was some great stuff in there! But y'know 🤷‍♀️

"The willingness to travel long distances by train has increased dramatically...The Berlin-Paris ICE is a great success, 80%+ occupancy. We thought 50% of passengers would travel the full 8h, but 75% do. Talking to SNCF about a 2nd Berlin-Paris train in 2028."

Did a podcast last week and the producer said "use vocabulary like you're talking to a 13 yr old" and I thought "yeah, but MY teen has a weirdly good vocabulary in my special interests, that's really not a great starting point."

Or rather, only *one* person wanted those name-embroidered whites. It's not completely devoid of sentiment 😊

Come to think of it, I had this in mind when I suggested dressing dad in his team cricket gear. Good suits can be handed on, but no-one really wants name-embroidered whites. And no-one would have wanted to take them to the tip either.

Maybe more of us should be buried wrapped in our old stuff, then I'd have fewer tatty 1940s-60s hand-me-down textbooks that it seems rude to throw away now but honestly are unlikely to ever get used. Funeral directors could come to the house and ask "look, what do you want us to use?"

71% of our planet is ocean, but you wouldn’t know it from traditional maps.

There's a stronger case to publish addresses - at area level - but not names. "This objection has come from a local resident, name withheld" is relevant information. "This objection has come from Owen Massey, who the wider public & his violent ex can now pinpoint to living in this street" is not.

And i guess you can level a stump after the initial fell. Just thinking of the weight when you drop a big tree.

Even if you did cut a large tree and left a stump, when would they start to be flat topped? With a felling axe you take a notch?

In case anyone thinks local elections don't matter. These are the people currently running Lancashire County Council, responsible for schools, libraries, social care etc.
I know this screenshot is too small to read. The top block are Reform.

Petticoats won't really be in power until we all read phrases like "Bishop of Ely" and have a 50-50 chance of picturing a woman (I did not until this post).
