Could be. Not in country pubs in Queensland though. "Let's torment the young barmaid with the Yankee accent" seemed to be a thing with some men - until I shouted at them and then refused service.

I've never used hard mode. I'm much too laid back for that. 😊

The gullibility of some people! This made me laugh: "Whether it's plausible that a sexy blonde nurse would love Christ, ICE, and flashing her boobs for strangers is secondary to the fact that many, many people want to believe it is."

It looks like you did what I did - figured out what letters would fit and made a word of them to see which one did fit. Wordle 1,768 4/6

Was it as bad (gropey) as I imagined it would be? I was a barmaid (before we were called servers or attendants) in the 70s and 80s and some of that was awful. Best place I ever worked back then was the Prince of Wales St Kilda when it was a gay bar. No-one seriously tried to hit on me there.

He said that 43 years ago, and it's still true, unfortunately. And not just in the USA.

Trump just posted threatening to knock out every power plant and every bridge in Iran if they don’t take his deal. He called it “the Iran Killing Machine.” Targeting civilian infrastructure isn’t negotiation it’s a war crime threat, posted publicly on social media like it’s nothing.

I'd love to know what the last line of the multicoloured poem is. It's just too blurry for me to make out propery.

But, yeah, a tavern like you'd see in The Witcher? - OMG, I'd love that!

Didn't we used to have a few Dirty Dick taverns? I can remember them from the 1970's in Melbourne and they had that kind of vibe. I never went into one of them because they were so sexist and made the women servers wear outfits that artificially pushed their boobs almost out of their clothes.

Couple says loophole allowing theft from cars shipped interstate Elihu and Amanda Del Valle say thousands of dollars worth of their belongings were stolen from the boot of their car when it was shipped from Melbourne to Perth, but police aren't able to investigate.

If local state police have their hands tied, why can't the AFP look into these thefts? www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04...
