@asms.org has sent out ballots for the BOD election. There is a strong slate of candidates this year. I know from other organizations only 20-25% of the membership vote in society elections so make your voice heard & vote. It took me 15 seconds to vote. I’m asking for your vote as VP for Programs.
IDK Brett. ACS is pushing hard to get read and publish agreements in place with the new NIH policy of no embargo’s. Hopefully this is resolved.

Anybody ever had success by going on the offensive after getting disrespectful and denigrating reviews for a paper? And this was the third round of reviews. I’m guessing the reviewer hasn’t liked that the editor is keeping the paper alive. The other reviewers have signed off.
This, by @ruthbenghiat.bsky.social, is very informative
Just checking. This special issue of software issue is dedicated to Margaret Dayhoff on her 100th birthday. She was a bioinformatics pioneer. There is a great "perspective" written by her son-in-law on his recollections of Margaret.
Tell me again where that is published.
Lincoln created the National Academy of Sciences to advise the government & signed the Morrill land grant act -arguably one of the greatest pieces of USA legislation. It created a higher education system everyone could access & subsequently an educated population to drive the US economy.
Someone got $38 billion in government funding.

#USHUPO2025. Tick tock. If you’re in early on Sunday there is a future of proteomics workshop 2-4pm. We have a great panel. Will anyone predict the proteoform jetpack is right around the corner!?! Come see.
I would never select undistinguished panelists.
USHUPO Attendees! On Sunday 2-4 pm we will present the lalapalooza of panel discussions on the Future of Proteomics. Several speakers will present visions of the future followed by a discussion with a distinguished panel. The session will be in the Regency AB room.
I did not know this. I learned of it on Apple TV. I’m on my 3rd pass.
I'm obsessed with the show and I'm reading the books. Clearly you need pumps to keep the ground water at bay and that is clear from the show. I'm thinking about this organizationally and I think the silo idea is probably the best way to create a living and working space for that many people.
If building a fall out shelter for a large number of people (say 10K) is a silo the most efficient structure?
I'm all for Canada joining the USA. Let's do the math: if each province is a state so that's 10 provinces times 2 Senators each so that's 20 new senators. If Canada is just one state with a population of 40.1 million that would be more representatives than CA. Bring on the healthcare, baby!
Sarcasm Josh, sarcasm.
The Kansas City refs are calling a beautiful game.
The board of USHUPO has set up a GoFundMe site to support USHUPO members in the LA area. In particular these kinds of tragedies can impact graduate students and postdoctoral fellows hard. Here's the link. gofund.me/d73ac63a
That’s where the real money is! And you don’t have to spend 100’s of millions on clinical trials. You simply have to be creative with adjectives. Throw in the words serum and peptides a lot in the ad copy.
