God, Death, and the Right to Choose: A Religious Divide on Assisted Suicide Support for the right to die has grown across every religious group — but the gaps between them are wider than ever

“The average American’s view is quite libertine: let people make up their own minds about how they want their lives to end.”

I guess my point would be that the textual references only maybe sometimes actually point back to the relevant figure because the texts themselves are part of the evolution of the tradition they inspired rather than recordings of their founders thoughts and actions as they claim.

Keeping in mind that “Jesus himself as recorded in the New Testament” is equivalent to “Confucius himself as recorded in the Analects and Classics,” no, just war theory is a result of the church grappling with becoming the religion of empire post Constantine.

Would he warn JD, though, or just fire the nukes after 24 hours and let JD go up with them?

I wanna point out something serious. The admin has been complaining about Iran winning the information war.

This same administration shut down Voice of America, and other information operations the US govt does.

It’s a self goal. Actions have consequences

Internal City Hall Polling Reveals Broad Support for Bike Projects, Blue Hill Ave. Bus Rapid Transit - Streetsblog Massachusetts StreetsblogMASS has obtained internal City of Boston polling results that show a strong majority of city residents support the proposed Blue Hill Avenue bus transitway project, and that a plurality of residents support bike lane projects, even when it comes at the expense of car lanes and on-street parking.

"City Hall’s polling indicated that bike lane projects were not particularly controversial, nor divisive."

"There was, however, one demographic that is more likely to despise bike lanes, regardless of their race or class: residents aged 55 and older."

Can we call you a "trustworthy professor"?

In this particular case, I think the ‘Well maybe if we had done this 10 or 15 years we’d be OK’ camp has a good point, especially given that the order that founded the school, the Society of St. Edmund, is itself shutting down. www.sse.org

It is beginning to look even more obvious that the “ceasefire” was, in fact, just another TACO Tuesday.

The Straits of Hormuz don’t stay open when ceasefire conditions are violated? Sounds like a crude awakening.

Yes, but isn’t the reformed notion of providence in some tension with claiming it as a form of protection?

It’s a bit like thinking you could look at the U.S. Code and understand what the state of affairs is in the U.S. now. 🤪😵‍💫

I’m not even clear there is a formal, written ceasefire agreement. There’s the Iranian 10 point plan that Donny says is “workable” as a framework for negotiation, but that’s for the ultimate peace plan, not necessarily the ceasefire.
