Oh no, that’s so sad to hear.

And people wonder why we talk about the weather so much.
I feel they could *one day*, given enough data (which is of course is your point). The safety claims of self-driving car makers is based on very selective conditions, and hence nowhere near enough experience of accidents, near misses or pro-active avoidance on which to be trained or claim safety.
yeah sorry about the jargon – I blame Bluesky's short character count :-)
...at best, with fingers crossed. I suspect it's no worse than any other self-driving vehicle.
This despite its 'smart cruise' control being unpredictably and dangerously prone to false positives (frequently braking for no reason in the fast lane of a motorway). Not ready for our roads, or any others beyond a quiet grid system on a sunny day.
I've got one (leased before Musk revealed himself as an actual Nazi, I must add). Under manual control, it frequently can't determine the correct speed limit and often gets confused at complex sets of traffic lights, never mind proactively slow down ahead of a potential incident.

If a spacecraft could talk, what would be its trans-lunar injection burn?
Don’t know. Go with @rachelandrew.bsky.social ‘s recommendations over on masto
As much as it pains me to say so: Apple Watch (I've swum, run and taken calls, but maybe it needs a phone nearby)
The piece that @flarup.bsky.social posted a few days ago remembered me of something @localghost.dev had posted a while ago and triggered me to write reasons “Why We Need to Be in the Same Room” (again). marcthiele.com/notes/why-we...
Nice! I spent many a day with XLD doing just that. Now all 400 happily sit in my laptop and on a NAS. And packed up in the attic cos I couldn’t quite bring myself to get rid of them.
Go on, it's Friday, treat yourself to... a Q4 2025 edition of 'which premium streaming service pays the best / worst?'!
No prizes for guessing that Spotify are easily outpaid by pretty much everyone else. Great stuff, guys!

This is not an article that Steve, the author, thinks should exist in a healthy industry, but the shape of our industry — especially right now — makes this sort of article very necessary and hopefully helpful to you in your job.

The UK government is stuck treating the symptoms, not the root cause of online harms.
Nothing changes until we break the business model that drives hate and extremism; the harvesting of our data to maximise engagement and fuel advertising.
It's time to #BreakBigTech.

Awful isn't it? Do you have a preferred source of streamed music? I'm so old I still buy vinyl and download mp3s.
I can't stress this enough, do not host client work on Vercel.

"Proactis" screenshot with the unhelpful message "An Error has Occurred".
"An error occurred". Why is this the same story with every Government procurement portal ever?
I tried "contact our Customer Support Team" about this error and the contact form sent my straight to this error page.
FFS stop wasting my time Proactis you bunch of cowboys.
As a 'professional' I won't put my name forward, however as someone who is colour blind (strong protanomaly) I'm happy to help out any time you want an opinion on such things.
Pretty spectacular and fascinating article on insect migrations, documenting how butterflies cross oceans and moths use the stars to make their way around Earth:

so now I've got rid of the second big box and added some dimensions to help explain a little bit what's going on.
Yes that's what I found. It's surprisingly accurate.
there's no reason to have two big boxes. It was just me being lazy and duplicating code.
The boxes are used to calculate the font metrics. The big box is 1em tall and 1em wide. The top smaller box is 1ch wide and 1ex high. The bottom box is 1ch wide and 1cap tall. I measure the ratios to get the font-size-adjust numbers.
If you've no idea what `font-size-adjust` does, see developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/W...

I made a big upgrade to my little `font-size-adjust` tool. You can now upload a font, configure some variable axes if needed, and it will spit out the values you'd need for `ex-height`, `cap-height` or `ch-width`.

Seems pretty obvious that people don't want Palantir involved with our NHS
Another good reason to show Labour the door in the May local elections 💚
Thanks Josh, but credit where it's due - this was created by Roel Nieskens and Dan Burzo.

too right :-) I was using 'fair' in a very loose way.
