Journalists flock to Bluesky as X becomes increasingly 'toxic' Journalists are finding more readers and less hate on Bluesky than on the platform they used to know as Twitter.

NBC: Mississippi Free Press "Bluesky is getting 20 times the engagement or more than Twitter,” Pittman said. “Seeing a social media platform that doesn’t throttle links really makes it clear how badly we were being limited.”

A statement from the Reuters Institute's Acting Director, Mitali Mukherjee: “We are proud to have hosted Fisayo Soyombo as a Journalist Fellow and we are deeply concerned about his arrest. He is an outstanding investigative journalist and an alumnus of our programme, where he worked on a timely project on the campaigns to tarnish journalists’ reputations. Fisayo’s arrest is a reminder of the challenges faced by so many colleagues who hold power to account. Journalism is not a crime and shouldn’t be treated as such. We hope the rule of law is followed and upheld in this case.”

Analysis | Musk admits X throttles links as ‘news influencers’ take over Hard times for the humble hyperlink and those who depend on it.

Musk admitted X throttles links, and Threads is only a little better. But social media's quiet war on links has been going on for years. I wrote about how big tech has been draining the open web's lifeblood and giving us "news influencers" instead of the news. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

We want Bluesky to be a great home for journalists, publishers, and creators. Unlike other platforms, we don't de-promote your links. Post all the links you want — Bluesky is a lobby to the open web.

Both have value. But this Thanksgiving I'm thankful for the primary sources! Let's sing the praises of journalism's often-unsung heroes – those who work holiday shifts and produce packages about airport gridlock and wake up before dawn for live shots and catch the typos in the home page headlines 🙌
