I didn’t mind the panelling, I eventually got used to it and at least he was trying to be experimental instead of ripping of Alan Moore’s 9 panel grid with Tom King does a lot in his works.

I think fans hated the comic horror approach more which is a shame cause I loved what Spurrier was cooking.

I’ll add them to my list of comics to buy lol.

Spurrier’s run was a wasted potential in my eyes, the first half was great and gave off a Vertigo vibe but I believe behind the scenes, editorial and fan backlash made him shifted focus on The Flash Family and make it more family friendly.

I’ll always defend Absolute Superman because as a Supes fan, I love this take on him and I think Jason Aaron has been doing a good job. I think I’ll trade wait for The Flash because I’ve heard it’s a very slow burn but I lowkey not a fan of the OG Ultimate Spider-Man influence.

I said it was overrated along with Absolute Batman and I was hated on Cbtwt for a week. I’ll probably check it out since some have said it’s like Shade, The Changing Man.

Rewatching Marty Supreme made me realise Josh is the better filmmaker between the Safdie brothers. Benny is a good editor but even the editing on Marty Supreme ran circles around The Smashing Machine’s editing.

Doing some research on Spawn before I start reading him again, what’s the consensus on Jim Downing? I’ve heard that his time and era as Spawn lasted quite a few years?
