Happy Valentine’s Day 💘

An apt #fromthearchives post is this dealership display of the Hanson ‘Love Bug’ travel trailer, which was produced from 1948-1958. Possibly one of the cutest names for a caravan ever, right? ❤️

You don’t need lots of money
To find out how good it feels,
To head out to the country
With your little house on wheels.

Caravan road rallying in the early 1970s. Yes, caravan towing was once a competitive sport! And to stop it from becoming a demolition derby, the concours d’eligance was held at the end of the race.

It was acceptable in the 1970s!

The purple interior of the 1973 Lynton Scimitar. Despite its quirky looks, it was a very unique and well considered caravan kitchen design. Note that there’s no upper storage lockers and the sink worktop rotates about 180 degrees to maximise the worktop space

One of my favourite new caravans - the La Mancelle Liberty 440PC from France 🇫🇷 I was lucky enough to get to borrow one to test back in the summer of 2023. Hands down, one of the best modern caravans I’ve ever had the good fortune to experience.

Love these cars so much. They were famously excellent towcars back in the day. I’d love to have one someday.

#ProjectEccles is nearing completion! I’ve been working on it since last summer. It’s been a LOT of work, but this 1975 Eccles Sapphire is very possibly the last one left, so it needed preserving, given its special history…

Our beautiful 1964 Cheltenham Puku 4 is probably our favourite caravan. Cheltenham made caravans for connoisseurs back in the day, and over half a century later, this still puts pretty much all new caravans to shame with its practicality, build quality, towability and sense of style.

The caravan that started it all… my 1966 Sprite 400. Purchased by my Grandparents in 1972 😍 Still looking as good as new!
