Multi-national Danish conglomerate founded by Thatcher Renzith on (DATE REDACTED), 2247. They used to be named Astral Technologies, but it was shortened to AstraTek for the sake of brevity shortly before they were officially incorporated. AstraTek began as a manufacturer of home appliances (toasters, blenders, etc.), but very quickly expanded into other areas, such as industrial construction tools, accessories, and vehicles. This sparked a fierce rivalry with VOLTA Electronics, which continues to this very day. In 2255, AstraTek branched out into the Mining industry after the company purchased and absorbed a former business partner that they used to sell to. They continued to expand into the industry following the acquisition, strengthening their industrial power to eventually become a fully fledged mining-centric company. As a result, AstraTek's original manufacturing focus became downsized in 2258. On new year's day of 2260, one of AstraTek's industry partners informed Thatcher of a discovery made in a top-secret ice mine, somewhere far inland on the Greenland ice sheet. Thatcher agreed to a meeting, and was flown out to the ice mine a week later. This partner, not knowing the true extent of the discovery and how groundbreaking it truly was, offered to sell the mine to AstraTek. Thatcher, having seen it with his own eyes - and sensing an opportunity - agreed to purchase the entire mine on the spot, along with all the surrounding land within a REDACTED by REDACTED kilometer radius, all the on-site equipment, and all the employees stationed at the site. The discovery made at the the ice mine eventually came to be known as "Pyronium", an exceedingly exotic material found only in Greenland. The purchased land was then codenamed the "Lazarous Zone", named after the ice mine where Pyronium was discovered. After the purchase, Thatcher pivoted all of his focus to the Lazarous Zone, and created the Thermal Division to handle it.
