I've found Flann O'Brien, Brian Coffey and Denis Devlin in the 1926 census. Who else should I be looking for?

@fliglman.bsky.social it is of course registering the name of a Hebrew teacher as Wilkes when it is obviously Wilkov. Naturally, a boarder.

Obviously there's bound to be loads, and that theres probably relatively so few in comparison to the size of the set, is impressive. The whole thing is brilliant. Especially the map feature this time. I'm sure as more searchability is rolled out, it will be an enormously rich tool for historians.

And as for the idea of "luxury shaming"? Don't make me laugh. That's called holding people to account.

How ‘post-luxury’ became the latest wealth fad The days of conspicuous consumption appear to have passed for now

This is such a weird article. Although they note the cost of children means that having a larger family is now a sign of wealth and status, at no point do they join the dots that people but "experiences" over objects because they are all renting or living at home. www.irishtimes.com/your-money/2...

Norgesgruppen tjente 4,9 mrd. kroner i fjor Omsetningen økte markant, men nærmere bunnlinjen ble resultatet marginalt svekket mot 2024.

This was nearly two years ago. Pre-tax profits for one of these, Norges Gruppen, was itself 4.9 milliarder NOK in 2025

4,9 milliarder i gebyr til Coop, Norgesgruppen og Rema Konkurransetilsynet ilegger Coop, Norgesgruppen og Rema til sammen 4,9 milliarder kroner i overtredelsesgebyr for brudd på konkurranseloven

Various outside actors including Lidl have tried and failed to crack this market. We all lose out: from farm to table, as it were.

Matbutikkene lurer og lopper oss Dagligvarer som vi tror er billigst, er ikke alltid det. Kundene sitter igjen med stadig mer avmakt.

Matbutikkene lurer og lopper oss | FriFagbevegelse share.google/BX4rhp1rPTI1... it is a well known fact that vertical integration from producers to suppliers to the actual supermarkets here is so strong that practically no one can break them.

I am actually just so tired of Norwegian supermarkets. The total failure of the government to stop the three major supermarket chains from completely controlling the competition is a massive failure.

For 1.75l milk, a load of bread, 500g butter, washing up liquid, a toothbrush and toothpaste I just paid 209nok (€18.83). Norwegian supermarkets are the biggest rip off on this country by a mile.

On 9 April 1940, Norway was invaded by Nazi Germany. Simon Stranger's wonderful, strange (ahem), and moving novel, Englished as "Keep Saying their Names", is appropriate reading, which I happened to pick up at the library this weekend.
