This is obviously worst case scenario planning… but it’s really exposing just how bad Dublin gets hit by volatile fossil fuel prices
Government didn’t fund BusConnects expansions in 2026 & haven’t funded 3 of the Dublin Luas projects… 🤷🤷♀️

JR’s have been cleared for Finglas Luas, there are lots of questions remaining since the lands now won’t be purchased for the project
Also, Government still haven’t funded construction until at least 2029 so it won’t be happening anytime soon

We spoke to @news.Rte.ie Morning Ireland earlier about the departure of Sean Sweeney & the impact to MetroLink’s delivery timeline
Mostly it’s because consecutive Governments haven’t prioritised, nor funded public Transport properly
It’s 20 years since the Green & Red line Luas launched… there’s a million more cars on Irish roads in that time
They’re still underfunding it as well

Another Airport bus gets withdrawn from service because of corporate profit margins
Meanwhile, the M50 is still at capacity and Government are removing the airport cap
Government must prioritise sustainable transport in any emergency relief funding
The solution to the rising cost of oil will never be tax reduction. It’s better cycling infrastructure, more frequent & reliable public transport and Work from Home measures
Plans have finally been released for the Train Depot that was removed from the Dart+ West project as part of the planning permission
It will include an upgrade to Kilcock Station with Twin Tracking to facilitate train stabling
Consultation is now open

*UPDATE*
The screws have now been removed by a local resident
The Council did respond immediately but the Community had already taken care of it by the time they got there
Cyclists Beware!!!
There are reports of sabotage in the cycle lane on the Old Cabra Road inbound near the Maple Centre
Someone has drilled Torx screws into the cycle track and it’s damaging tyre’s
Be careful if you’re cycling in the area

Everything you ever wanted to know about MetroLink from @TheB1m

Cycling numbers in Dublin up 50%
78% of people support #Love30 being rolled out and the Minister continues to do nothing
Yet Darragh O’Brien is still looking for the magic pill to solve congestion…
We don’t mind who copies our homework, as long as we get reliable, frequent & safe public transport along with safe cycling & pedestrian infrastructure
If Minister Darragh O’Brien is looking for ideas to solve Dublin’s Congestion problems… we produced a document 18 months ago that’s a road map for doing exactly that!!

Transdev’s contract as operator of the Luas will not be renewed
A joint venture between Keolis & Amey is expected to take over
Keolis reached out to us as part of their bid and seemed to prioritise customer experience

We spoke to Newstalk’s The Hard Shoulder about the latest saga with mandatory Hi-Vis jackets
Lights are already required for night-time cycling, mandating hi-vis for everyone won’t fix non-compliance by the few
Enforcement is the answer

🪧Protest in Cabra this Saturday for Safer Streets
Don’t let Dublin City Council ignore the Communities voice - Planning Laws are there for a reason
🗓️: Saturday 21st Feb
⏰: 11:00-12:00
📍: Outside the Go Petrol Station, Old Cabra Road
A decades worth of disruption is on the way which will exasperate the ongoing congestion issues. The passenger cap removal won’t help either
This is what happens when you continuously delay vital public transport projects
www.dublininquirer.com/dublin-city-...
It would be great to be included in this
The full scheme runs down as far as George’s St
Delivery & Service vehicles will still have access before 11; similar to how the other Pedestrian streets work
Here is a link to all of the related documents and hi-res images:

Yesterday we spoke to the Oireachtas Committee on Transport & we highlighted the various failings of this Government on road safety
The ongoing failure of Vision Zero
The Systemic failure of the RSA
And the impact of Default 30kph U-Turn
We will be appearing in front of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport to speak about Road Safety this morning from 09:45 today
