When I was D deficient but also worried about a family history of skin cancer, my doctor suggested getting morning sun before 11 and then applying sunscreen after that to try to hit both concerns (if that applies to anyone else!)

Nooooo! Are you stuck? I've missed doctor's appointments to that train, I will now drive as many extra miles as I need to in order to avoid it.

That's hard, wishing you and your family the best. Yeah I've been wondering how well long-term care insurance actually pays out in practice, but since I'm in the US I should probably assume not much.

Even with long-term care insurance? Do the elders in your family typically spend many years in care? I've only had one g-gma spend any time in assisted care at all at the end (maybe a year?) so I'm not really factoring it in, but each family is different.

Farmers also often have a spouse with a job that gives them health insurance.

I get it, finding a therapist in your insurance network that's taking new patients, in a time slot you can fit in during work, that's also a good personality fit, is hard! But there's an entire genre of fiction telling us why that's a bad idea!

TS tics are involuntary. TS tics are still capable of causing harm, and the Black people in the audience were harmed! Davidson even talks about one time involuntarily punching his mom in the face! It's not ableist to say "ow".

BBC just looks like the villain here, like they did this on purpose for the press reaction. He wasn't sure he should come, BBC encouraged him and lied to him that they'd edit his tics. I'm glad he reached out to aplogize to the Black actors, but holy shit the BBC put a live mic next to him!

If he met someone with PTSD and his tic tried to trigger it: "It's involuntary, it's ableist of you to have a PTSD reaction to what he's saying. Just don't have a panic attack!" But truly the focus should be on the BBC not editing it out and putting a live mic in front of him 40 rows back!

I'm sure there are lots of Black people in Healthcare that need to put up with slurs from dementia patients who can't help it. It probably still sucks to hear! Even when they get paid for it!

I'm sure! I've also heard disabled people talk about the difficulty of accommodating conflicting disabilities. If you need a seeing eye dog but your coworker is severely allergic, what do you do? Neither person can help it, the situation sucks but no one is really at fault.

I think there has also been a lot of learning about how speech is harmful, and this is making a lot of tension! TS is involuntary, and also that slur is very harmful! Sucks for both parties, and it's become an either/or zero sum outage.

It's a horrible illness, and he should be able to attend an event where he's getting an award (I think most of the blame should go to BAFTA for not censoring the broadcast). It also seems weird to not acknowledge that if his body does stuff without his consent that it can still impact others.

I'm vegan mostly because I think CAFOs are bad, would absolutely make an exception for meat that was hunted/fished by an indigenous person. I grew up in a white culture where hunting/fishing was for sport over food, so it took some time to learn that other cultures approach it more respectfully.

Pursued by federal agents, suburban ICE observers remain resolved After a frightening pursuit by federal agents, suburban ICE observers say fear hasn’t stopped them from protecting their communities.

“If I am killed doing this, throw my body at the White House, martyr the shit out of me & raise hell. Do not be sad. Do not think I would do anything differently. I would do it over & over again — this is too important to sit down & shut up and not do anything.” www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

Agree! All the markers were for a low-risk event, but if for example you are pregnant or an immigrant your personal risk assessment might be at zero. That is important self-knowledge, and a call for more privileged people to step up where they can.

I mean... Portland, OR just had a daytime, permitted, family-friendly (lots of kids and dogs and elderly) protest organized by labor unions and we all got heavily tear gassed by ICE while being peaceful. And the lesson isn't not to protest, but to highlight HOW monstrous ICE is. Fuckers gotta go.

It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.

I’m old and have a lot less at stake than many people. If I get arrested, I won’t lose my pension. If I get shot, I’ll lose 10-20 years of arthritis getting worse and worse. I have no reason not to rouse a little rabble.
